The F-35 Lightning 2 stealth fighter produced by Lockheed Martin in the United States.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Communist Party’s homemade stealth fighter, the J-20, is gradually being integrated into the actual military forces. In response, some compared the U.S. military’s F-35 stealth fighter. The aircraft had recorded an overwhelming 40:0 victory in a military exercise in 2017, causing many Chinese netizens to lament, “What about the J-20?”
According to the mainland media, the J-20 fighter jet made its maiden flight on Jan. 11, 2011, and so far China has produced at least 40 J-20s. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) boasts that the J-20 can compete with the U.S.-made F-22 or F-35.
But a mainland military media “East China Sea Great Plains” wrote an article analyzing that the F-35 would first ensure that it would not be shot down by the enemy in anti-aircraft interception operations, and then set a sick record of 40:0 in surprise attack operations, which seems to prove that the F-35 is “the real strongest. This seems to prove that the F-35 is a “real powerhouse”.
The article said that such achievements, undoubtedly hit the F-35 in the global reputation, the F-35 is powerful because it is a soft information degree of the fighter, not only has a powerful engine, some relatively good performance of the basic equipment, it also has a high technology component, to do the combination of automation and intelligence.
In military exercises, these advantages presented in the F-35 best at pre-emptive strikes, but also to better grasp the normal state of the battle. It is not only very good at prediction, but also very scary in real combat, and most of all, it greatly reduces the burden of the pilot.
The F-35 uses the PAVE PACE integrated avionics system, which integrates a variety of advanced electronics through a high-performance onboard computer, and then hands over the tasks that require immediate processing and are exceptionally heavy to the background, finally presenting the decision-making information to the pilot.

The J-20 is a stowaway fighter designed and developed by Sichuan Chengdu Aircraft Company, and the fourth stowaway fighter in addition to the U.S. F-22, F-35, and Russian Su-57. It has been in development since 2002, entered service in 2017, and just recently completed its first maritime training exercise.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) claims that the J-20 has the ability to track and “excel” in medium- and long-range air control operations, and that one of its main missions is to gain air control. But experts say the J-20 is no match for advanced fighters from Europe and the United States, and that even older fighters like the U.S. F-15 could thwart the J-20’s attempts to gain air control.
Justin Bronk, an air combat expert at the Royal United Services Institute, a British think tank, told Business Insider that even if the J-20 is the best Chinese fighter, it is no match for the decades-old U.S. F-15. Even if the J-20 is the best Chinese fighter, it’s not as good as the F-15, which has been in service for decades.
In terms of thrust-to-weight ratio, maneuverability and high-altitude performance, it is unlikely to catch up to U.S. or European air superiority fighters,” Bronk said.
The Chinese Communist Party has had setbacks in making its own engines for its fighters, and the engines are key to whether the J-20 will have the real-world performance of a fifth-generation fighter like the F-35 or F-22.
According to Bronk, the CCP appears to be years away from crossing the threshold of extending the fighter’s flight range and improving its performance. Because of this, the J-20 is no match for the F-15 or Typhoon, let alone the F-22.
