Yale Chinese graduate student shot and killed just a week before a successful marriage proposal

Kevin Jiang, a 26-year-old Chinese-American student at Yale University, was shot and killed in New Haven, Connecticut, on the night of June 6. Kevin Jiang’s Facebook page shows that a week ago, he had proposed to his girlfriend successfully.

Police said they received multiple 911 calls about the shooting around 8:30 p.m. on the night of the 6th, and arrived at the crime scene on Nash St. (Nash St.) between Lawrence Street (Lawrence Street) in New Haven to find a man who had been shot and died at the scene.

Yale University President Peter Salovey later confirmed that the victim of the shooting was Kevin Jiang, a student at the university’s School of the Environment, who was expected to graduate in 2022.
