Breitbart News published an exclusive report headlined “Advisor: Trump Considering Launching His Own Social Media Platform
Jason Miller, a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, revealed Saturday that the former president is considering launching his own social media platform in the near future, the report said.
The news, which came after Trump was permanently banned from using Twitter and indefinitely banned from using Facebook, was released by Miller on Saturday on the SiriusXM125 Patriot channel.
Asked about Trump’s next steps, Miller said, “I hope we’ll see the president re-emerge on social media, whether it’s joining an existing platform or creating his new platform, there’s a lot of different options and they’ve had a lot of different meetings on that. There’s nothing imminent at this point.”
Miller was cautious when asked what Trump’s social network (like like if it was called “Trumper” or something like that) would look like, but he said the former president is considering joining an existing new platform or launching his own to compete with Silicon Valley’s tech giants.
“All options are on the table,” Miller said.” A lot of things are being discussed. Stay tuned , because you know he’s going to be back on social media. We’re just figuring out which avenue makes the most sense.”
As of mid-January before Biden‘s inauguration, Facebook Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg told NBC News that the social network has “no plans” to lift Trump’s indefinite ban anytime soon.
Twitter, meanwhile, has placed a permanent ban on the former president’s account.” I’m not celebrating, nor am I proud that we had to ban Trump from Twitter,” Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said in a thread explaining his company’s move, adding, “I believe it was the right decision for Twitter.”
Existing potential alternatives that Trump could join include Parler, a campaign official for then-President Trump who reportedly met with Parler last summer to discuss Trump joining the platform, or Gab, another platform that has successfully fought against the blacklisting of Silicon Valley and financial institutions. if Trump seeks to build his own platform, it would be a massive undertaking that would require significant investment and technology infrastructure. But fueled by his personality and supporters, 75 million Americans voted for him in 2020, the most votes ever received by a sitting president, go! could eventually succeed.
Trump has long battled Big Tech, telling Breitbart News Network in an exclusive interview in the Oval Office last August that “100 percent” of Big Tech companies, such as Twitter, Facebook and Google, are trying to control the information Americans see. Asked if they were trying to control the flow of information to the public, Trump said, “Do you have a question?”
“Tech companies have been very dishonest about this and about free speech,” Trump told Breitbart News Network.” In due course, this could be a big issue for them.”
