The National Pulse reports that leaked documents reveal a deal for a Chinese Communist government-backed company to build an island less than 150 miles off the northern tip of Australia.
A Chinese company has proposed a nearly $40 billion project to build an island less than 150 miles from the northern tip of Australia.
The Daily Mail noted that given the island’s proximity to Australia, “it is likely to make Australian national security analysts nervous.”
The leaked documents reveal that a city will be built on Daru Island in Papua New Guinea by the Communist Party-backed WYW Holdings Ltd.
The island will include a seaport, industrial and commercial areas, as well as resorts and residential areas.
The Daily Mail noted, “Under the plans for the new Daru City, the potential deal would be subject to an agreed sovereign guarantee based on a long-term BOT (build-operate-transfer) contract. This means that the communist-backed company would have full ownership of the venture for a specified period of Time, which is yet to be determined,”
