Recently, the National Teachers Union endorsed a controversial and radical set of “sex materials” for children in California and pushed them into federal and state schools in the United States. Many Parents have resisted, arguing that the materials will “ruin children.
The radical “sex kit” is part of the “Welcome to School” series of textbooks introduced by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Brenda Lovesac, a teacher on the Orange County Municipal School District Board of Trustees, presented parts of the textbooks, which teach children about “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” categories.
For example, she said, a book for pre-K-5th graders called “They, He, She and I” teaches children that they can be called by your first name without using “he” for male or “she” for female, or “Tree” and “Ze” for Instead, use Tree and Ze to indicate that it is not a boy or not a girl. The illustrations in the book make it impossible to tell if a child is male or female by appearance, and Tree and Ze are even more confusing.
Another textbook for PreK-1st grade teaches that children can look like boys but feel like girls; they can also look like boys but feel like boys and girls; or they can be neither boys nor girls.
Lovsak said he received 32 classroom aids. The NCTU has promoted the “Welcome to School” program, including training for teachers and administrators, claiming to “create a safe and inclusive learning environment. The National Teachers Union is the largest LGBTQ/non-heterosexual advocacy group and political lobbying organization in the United States, working to protect and expand the rights of individuals such as gays and lesbians.
In 2015, California passed the California Youth health Act, sponsored by Democratic State Assemblywoman Shirley Weber (D-San Diego), which requires the introduction of a sex Education curriculum in public schools from kindergarten through K-12 and mandates that California students take “comprehensive sex education” (CSE) twice in middle and high school. Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) courses are mandatory in middle and high school.
While the Act does not make it mandatory for elementary school students, there are teachers who teach children about sex in preschool, and there are many cartoons. The cartoons have had such an impact on the children that one child commented after watching them that he was “neither”, neither a boy nor a girl.
Some parents said that men and women have different physical characteristics, which is a real and objective standard, and that these books are teaching children to be self-conscious.
One Chinese-American parent found her child in first grade was being taught these concepts in school. She said, “Children are not developed yet, they don’t have any concepts and they don’t have the ability to judge. It’s easy to be influenced by what’s being taught at such a young age.”
Linda, a parent, believes that those people use the excuse that they are not discriminated against as an excuse to demand that others be like them. “They don’t have children themselves, and they want to ruin other people’s families and children.”
