Communist planes have frequently disturbed Taiwan in recent days, and Chinese officials have threatened that “Taiwan independence means war. In this regard, the U.S. Department of Defense spokesman Kirby said today that the Chinese (Communist) remarks are regrettable, there is no reason for the situation in Taiwan to evolve into a conflict, and that the U.S. military is ready to fulfill its regional security commitments.
U.S. President Joe Biden (Joe Biden) 20 officially inaugurated, the Communist Party recently frequently sent military aircraft to violate Taiwan’s southwest air defense identification zone (ADIZ), a strong warning. Wu Qian, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, said on the 28th of Taipei Time that “Taiwan independence means war.”
U.S. Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby said at a media briefing today that there was no reason for the situation in Taiwan to evolve into a conflict, and that the U.S. found the Chinese statement unfortunate.
Kirby pointed out that Beijing‘s remarks are inconsistent with the U.S. desire to fulfill its obligations under the Taiwan Relations Act. As Secretary of State Antony Blinken said yesterday, the U.S. will seek ways to work with China, but the U.S. still has obligations it intends to fulfill.

Kirby said the U.S. Department of Defense has not changed its commitment to the Taiwan Relations Act and the U.S.-China triple communiqué, and as Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said at a Senate hearing, the U.S. commitment to Taiwan has garnered cross-party support over the past several decades, and he will do the same during his tenure.
He stressed, “We [the U.S.] have an obligation to assist Taiwan in its self-defense, and that will continue.”
Some media on hand pressed the issue of whether the United States was prepared to defend Taiwan against a possible Chinese Communist invasion. While reluctant to answer hypothetical questions, Kirby said, “The U.S. military is ready in every way to fulfill our regional security commitments.”
