Opposition leader Alexey Navalny’s team recently released a video exposing the “Putin Palace” on Russia’s Black Sea coast, claiming it was the largest bribery case in Russia’s history, and the Kremlin denied the allegations again on the 22nd.
The Kremlin again denied the allegations on the 22nd. The comprehensive foreign media reported that the Navalny team released a nearly 2-hour-long film on the YouTube channel on the evening of the 19th, in which the “anti-corruption foundation (FBK)” led by Navalny investigated a luxury palace in the Black Sea coastal city of Gelendzhik, claiming that President Vladimir Putin used illegal funds from his rich friends to build his palace, which was also the largest bribery case in history.
The report states that the “Putin Palace” cost nearly $1.4 billion and covers 17,691 square meters, with a luxurious Home that includes 11 bedrooms, several living and dining rooms, a private theater, a movie theater and a casino, among other facilities. Navalny said in the film that the Putin estate, with its own port, security facilities, border checkpoints, etc., is like an independent state within Russia, and that Putin is the tsar who cannot be replaced.
The Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said after the release of the film that everything was a rumor, and again told the media in an interview on the 22nd that the speculation about Putin and the building in Gelendzhik was false, and that Putin did not use the building facilities. Peskov criticized that the whole film and the content of the report are fictional, only to attract a large audience, stressing that Putin has nothing to do with it.
The Navalny team released the “Putin’s Palace” film on its YouTube channel in the evening of the 19th, and so far it has accumulated more than 65.98 million views.
