CDC: Modena vaccine severe allergy rate is extremely low only 2.5 cases in 1 million people

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said today that according to current data, more than 4 million people have received the first dose of Moderna’s Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) vaccine, and only 10 people have had serious allergic reactions and there have been no deaths.

AFP reported that the CDC data indicated that between Dec. 21 last year and Jan. 10 this year, a total of 4,041,396 people received the first dose of Moderna vaccine, of which only 10 suffered anaphylactic shock after vaccination, but no one died.

Nine of the allergy cases began to show adverse reactions within 15 minutes after vaccination, with the remaining one occurring half an hour later, and all 10 cases happened to be female, in the age group between 31 and 63 years old, with nine having a history of allergy.

The data also showed that 2.5 cases of serious adverse reactions per 1 million people occurred with the Modena vaccine and 11.1 cases per 1 million people with the Pfizer vaccine. Therefore, the CDC used the word “rare” in its report to describe the serious allergic reactions to the Modena vaccine.

Modena has been cleared for marketing in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Israel and the European Union. Stephane Bancel, CEO of Modena, said on Jan. 7 of this year that the Modena vaccine should provide protection for several years and also work against variants of the virus found in the United Kingdom, South Africa and elsewhere.
