Former U.S. Undersecretary Klatch: Seeing China’s “Sanctions” as an Honor

China announced sanctions against 28 top Trump administration officials on the 20th as the regime change in the U.S. As one of those sanctioned, former Undersecretary of State Klatch tweeted on Thursday evening (21st) U.S. Time, “When you rise up against bullies, they back down, especially when you have friends around. That’s why we formed the ‘Clean Network Action Democracy Coalition’ and the plan has been very successful.” Operation Clean Network, an initiative program launched by the U.S. State Department last year, is designed to invite countries around the world to stop using Chinese-made 5G telecommunications equipment.

On the same day, Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman James Risch, a Republican, also tweeted that the Communist Party’s move to sanction 28 outgoing national security officials is now testing the Biden administration’s resolve to continue a tougher, competition-oriented approach to China. He wrote: “Working together, Republicans and Democrats must let Beijing know that we will not be deterred from defending American interests.”

China’s foreign ministry announced sanctions against 28 U.S. officials who were “primarily responsible for serious violations of China’s sovereignty on China-related issues” during the Trump Administration, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, John Krazy, former health Secretary Alex Azar, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kraft.
