Nearly 30,000 people in Shijiazhuang’s Gaocheng district have been officially quarantined and the entire district is empty. A volunteer interviewed by the Epoch Times was informed that the quarantined people there are under 24-hour supervision and those with fever are directly pulled away; the volunteers have no protection.
Nearly 30,000 people have been forcibly quarantined in an empty city, and “people are being arrested on sight and cars are being arrested on sight.”
The volunteer is currently at the new campus of Shijiazhuang Information Engineering Vocational College in Gaocheng, where close to 30,000 people in the entire Gaocheng district are being centrally isolated, and officials have asked everyone in the district to be forcibly isolated.
The volunteer said that there are more than 40 buildings in this isolation site, each with more than 200 rooms, all of which are full, and there may also be people in the classrooms.
He said: “The entire Gaocheng County, all isolation concentrated here, more than 20,000 people are here, a few villages all empty transfer, Fang Cabin Hospital is not built, isolated here, not allowed out. All villages, a Gaocheng district, a county district all concentrated here, I drove yesterday for half an hour, a person can not be seen, all places, stores, buildings, neighborhoods are all sealed, all Shijiazhuang municipal government posted seals, there is no one, the car is not a, see people to catch people, see cars to catch cars, there is no one.”
According to the volunteer, the isolated people are not one person a room, are guarded 24 hours a day, someone to send Food and drink, can not go downstairs, only be allowed to stand in the corridor door.
He said, “Now that the holidays are over and the students have gone Home, it is not clear how many people live in each room from the first floor to the fifth floor, all of them are fully occupied. There are one person, two people, there are wives and children Family together. Do not let down the stairs, do not let the door, let alone out of the stairway community, all volunteers twenty-four hours to guard.”
“There are special volunteers to send them food to send food. They are not allowed to go out of their rooms, they can sit at the door for a while and talk to each other, but they are not allowed to go downstairs. After the meal is delivered, the staircase aisle should be locked up, and then downstairs the entire gate should be locked up, out of the gate and a courtyard door must also be locked up”
“Basically no out, the most is to pick the window to see, we eliminated four buildings, several groups of one person responsible for two buildings. Room we do not go in, they send alcohol, their own disinfection can be.”
He also revealed that there is no place for quarantine staff to take a shower, at most, they wash their bodies with hot water.
They disinfect the entire building area (inside and outside the building) twice a day, with a lot of work, full armor and two sets of protective clothing per day. “We try not to drink or smoke when we work, and we don’t go to the bathroom for five or six hours.”
After the work, there are special people to disinfect them, from head to toe spray disinfectant water once, out of the shower, wash face, etc.. After returning to the room, you have to wash your hands and disinfect.
The meal at the isolation site is very general, very little meat and vegetables, he said, they staff and isolation staff to eat the same meal, where they can eat on the line.
“The food is not good, every day steamed buns, millet porridge or something, the dish a little meat is not, we will then settle for, then overcome.”

He said, “As long as there is a fever directly to pull away, pull to which hospital is not clear, yesterday a confirmed case was pulled away by car.”
Volunteers are not covered and are treated as suspected cases
The volunteer was involved in building Mount Thor and Mount Vulcan during last year’s Wuhan outbreak, after which he cleaned up supplies and disinfected the South China Seafood Market. Now he is working on disinfection at Shijiazhuang Information Engineering Vocational College.
He told the Epoch Times that volunteers have no protection and are treated as suspected cases, and like those in quarantine, they cannot go out and have to advance their own money.
He said, “There is no protection, even if we are infected with confirmed, you die without a penny, there is not a penny of welfare and treatment, we from Wuhan (to Shijiazhuang) road expenses, gas, food and drink are all their own, I advance a little, advance 1,100 yuan, and then there are advance more than 2,000.”
“We are not allowed to go out, the gate are not allowed to go out, go out to buy anything, need something to report in advance, not allowed out of this compound, the gate.” He said.
The volunteer said he will be here for about two weeks and may not be able to return for the New Year, and even if he can go back he must be isolated for at least 14 or 21 days.
He also spoke to reporters about his difficulties – he originally operated a small stall of brine in a university town in Wuhan, but the Epidemic led to poor business, but a variety of costs but 20,000 to 30,000, so temporarily unable to operate, no income for a year, very difficult; at the same time, friends are not supportive of his volunteer work, “rarely contact with me, are far away, do not dare to face each other, afraid that I am infected.”
He also revealed to reporters that the media reported on the Wuhan epidemic last year was only one-third of it, and the actual situation would not be reported. The actual situation will not be reported. “What you know is positive energy, positive energy again, all over the country to support Wuhan, are good, positive on the news, in fact, a lot of things on the back you do not know, we know will not tell you, it is useless to talk about it, not good for me, not good for you.”
