White House: Biden will continue to let Rye serve as FBI director

The White House said today that President Joe Biden has asked FBI Director Christopher Wray to stay on, and that he has confidence in Wray’s performance.

Wray was appointed by former President Trump, but Wray has often angered Trump by refusing to support claims that there was fraud in the Nov. 3 election vote last year.

The FBI director’s term is 10 years, and Rhee has six years left in his term.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki confirmed in a tweet (Twitter) that Biden intends to keep Rhee in office and that he has confidence in his performance. Psaki said she inadvertently caused a ripple when she said yesterday that she hadn’t talked to Biden about it.

Biden’s decision to retain Rhee was welcomed by Democratic House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
