Outgoing White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany revealed Wednesday (Jan. 20) that she left a note (notes) for incoming President Joe Biden‘s press officers.
McKennany tweeted Wednesday, “All the best to @presidentjoebiden’s incoming press and communications team.” She also left notes for Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, and others.
McInerney tweeted, “My prayers are with you as you begin your service to the American people.” She also left notes for senior adviser and chief spokesman Symone Sanders, communications director Kate Bedingfield and chief deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, among others.
On Wednesday, Psaki tweeted that she was now in the White House.
Follow me, @PressSec, I’ll still be posting personal messages here,” she wrote. And for the work of @potus and @vp, @flotusbiden and @secondgentleman, @presssec will provide updates.”
Former President Donald Trump left a note for Biden before he left the White House on Wednesday, according to outgoing White House spokesman Judd Deere. But he did not disclose the contents of the note. Former presidents who leave office generally leave letters for incoming presidents.
Trump did not appear at Biden’s swearing-in ceremony, choosing instead to deliver his Farewell Address outside the White House before heading to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The former president also wished the incoming administration success.
Trump said, “I will watch, I will listen and I will tell you that the future of this country has never been better.” He also said that Biden would be successful if he could retain some of his policies.
Trump added, “I wish the new administration good luck and great success. I think they’re going to have great success. They have enough of a base to do some pretty spectacular things.”
Trump and his son, Eric Trump, also said the movement Trump has built will continue after he leaves office.
