President Trump, who will step down from the presidency tomorrow, cited “uniting the world against the Chinese Communist Party” as one of his achievements over the past four years in his farewell address today.
Trump gave a 20-minute farewell speech today. He said he was truly proud of those joint accomplishments as he approaches the end of his term. He said it has been an unspeakable honor to serve as president of the United States and thanked the American people for this extraordinary privilege.
He prayed that the new administration that will take office this week will succeed in ensuring America’s security and prosperity, and “we offer our best wishes and wish them the best of luck. However, Trump remained reluctant to publicly mention the name of incoming president-elect Joe Biden.
In his speech, Trump repeated the attack on Capitol Hill on the 6th, saying that political violence is an attack on all that Americans hold dear and will not be tolerated. More than ever, it is now necessary to unite in common values, transcend partisan hatred and create a common destiny.
Trump counted his achievements in the past four years, including economic success, rapid research and development of vaccines, and the construction of the border. On the diplomatic front, in addition to making peace in the Middle East and being the first U.S. president in decades not to start a new war, Trump also mentioned reinvigorating the U.S. alliance and uniting the world as never before to face the Chinese Communist Party.
