Because of the “security threat”, the U.S. Capitol in front of the presidential inauguration rehearsal from 17 to 18 postponed. But Reuters news agency said, 18 morning, the Capitol building was suddenly blocked. But the blockade was quickly lifted. The Reuters news agency, citing eyewitnesses, reported that the Capitol had been sealed off, and no one was allowed to enter or leave. The source said that people inside the building had taken refuge in safe havens because of “external threats.
Fox News later reported that the ongoing rehearsal for the inauguration was interrupted as smoke suddenly rose not far from the Capitol and people evacuated and took refuge in shelters. However, officials later claimed that there was no security threat because of a “homeless camp fire” a few blocks away from the Capitol and that the Capitol had been lifted from lockdown.
U.S. media previously reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was conducting a “political review” of the 25,000 National Guardsmen responsible for inauguration security because of fears of an “insider attack.
Earlier, a photo once circulated on Twitter showed what appeared to be several exterior sets of the Capitol being painted with a giant “Biden curve. But the photo was quickly deleted. The photo is also difficult to distinguish from the real one.
A photo of House Democratic Speaker Pelosi giving a “lecture” to the Capitol Hill National Guard was also circulated online. The media reported that Pelosi “praised” the military personnel in charge of the so-called “riot control”. But when Trump used the National Guard to quell the Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots last year, Pelosi said “it’s a sad day for the country”.
The FBI previously claimed that from January 16 to 20, Washington and the 50 state capitals will have “armed protests”, and Biden called for the disposal of the “rebellion”. But the American conservative media believe that this may be a trap, and called on Trump supporters not to participate in these so-called “armed protests”. Trump also made a speech asking his supporters not to violently break the law.
So far, there have been no reports of so-called “armed riots” in Washington and the 50 state capitals.
