Beijing demolished Xiangtang village, law professor’s villa was sprayed with 32 blood red “demolition”

The Beijing authorities have been forcibly demolishing the Xiangtang Cultural Village in Cicun Town, Changping District, Beijing since last year. Yang Yusheng, a professor of law at China University of Political Science and Law, has protested by going on a hunger strike and seeking help from the university to solve the problem, but to no avail. The front of Yang Yusheng’s house has been spray-painted with 32 blood-red “demolition” characters, and all the houses near his house have been demolished. Yang Yusheng is now organizing a collection of more than 20,000 books at home, ready to be transferred to the school. His villa, which looks like an island amidst the rubble, seems to have escaped being run over by a bulldozer.

According to Apple Daily, Chen Manhua, a professor at Renmin University of China’s College of Arts, recently revealed the forced demolition of Beijing’s Xiangtang New Village in a WeChat message. According to Chen, his good friend Professor Yang Yusheng, the owner of Xiangtang Cultural Village, has become a nail-biter in Xiangtang Village.

Chen said that Yang Yusheng suffered from water and electricity cuts during the extremely cold weather, as well as other disturbing reasons that made him suffer. 16 early morning, Chen read a letter written by Yang Yusheng to his unit leader, in which he mentioned that Yang Yusheng’s home collection of more than 20,000 books finally had a place to be stored, and the University of Political Science and Law promised to help solve the problem. Chen lamented that if Yang Yusheng’s books were not properly handled, after his home was destroyed, there would be no place for even the intellectuals to settle down; Chen, who is also a reader and a former avid book panner, had an unspeakable feeling of sadness at this time.

Yang Yusheng wrote in his letter: “Since the school has solved the problem of storing books for me, then, as a person who loves books like life, I have to sort them into categories and pack them myself, which naturally takes time. Therefore …… during my book sorting period (about 3 days), request the CuiCun Township government to: first, withdraw the security guards on duty specifically for me, and not to restrict my freedom of entry and exit; second, not to illegally demolish my house before my books are safely transferred to the school; otherwise, I will not only resume ‘ home passive not to eat’ action, but also, will exercise the right of self-defense according to the law, play the life.”

Yang Yusheng also reiterated that the new village of Xiangtang culture is not illegal construction, is agreed by the town government, the village committee unified construction, and the “purchase contract” has the official seal of the village committee and Cui Village Town Government, the Land Bureau issued the “collective land construction land use certificate”.

Sheng Hong, the former director of Tianze Economic Research Institute, who also experienced the storm of forced demolition, also tweeted the latest situation outside Yang Yusheng’s house. Sheng Hong said, “The houses around the house of Yang Yusheng, the owner of Xiangtang and a professor at the University of Political Science and Law, have all been illegally destroyed. The demolition mob wrote 32 ‘demolition’ characters around Professor Yang’s yard and punctured his wheels.”

Beijing authorities carried out the forced demolition last December of the new cultural village of Xiangtang in Cui-cun town, whose owners include many celebrities, second generation Reds and scholars. The residence of calligrapher Fan Zeng, who often sings the praises of Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party, with his poetry, calligraphy and paintings, was also demolished into ruins a while ago. Many netizens clapped their hands at the time, saying that he had lied and done too much evil, and as a result, he was a leek even if he kissed more ass.

In addition, Tao Siliang, daughter of former Chinese Communist Party leader Tao Chuan, Su Huining, daughter of Chinese Communist General Li Yu, Guo Lingmei, daughter of former Chinese Communist Party leader Li Lisan and daughter of Chinese Communist Party red poet Guo Xiaochuan, are all owners of Xiangtang Village.

Last year, Guo Lingmei and hundreds of local residents were rumored to have filed a lawsuit against the Cicun town government at the Changping District Court, and then Guo Lingmei lost contact. According to Radio Free Asia, Guo’s family asked around but could not find out where Guo Lingmei had gone, nor did they know which public security department had taken her away.
