The epidemic is getting worse in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, and the city is under severe closure. Thousands of students at the local “Zhongsheng Education” training institute were even more anxious. They came to the institution on the promise of safety, but after only one day of classes, the school was sealed off and nearly 3,000 students from abroad are still trapped.
On Jan. 14, a student from “Zhongsheng Education” complained in a post on Weibo that the training institution had notified them at the end of December last year that an offline course was scheduled to start on Jan. 4 at the Linshou campus of Shijiazhuang Institute of Technology and Information Vocational College. The contact person at the institution “repeatedly assured” that the epidemic would not recur and said that “it is now a complete system, and if there are any problems, the legal person of the institution will bear the legal responsibility”; if not, the tuition fee will not be refunded.
The school eventually welcomed about 5,000 students. But on the second day of classes (5th), Shijiazhuang added one new case, and the next day 14 new cases, the local emergency city closure, the province of Hebei entered a state of war.
“Zhong Sheng” late notice to suspend classes caused the foreign students trapped
The trapped girl Zhang Ying (a pseudonym) told the Epoch Times that all the students who attended the tutorials were specialist students. The majority of them come from all over Hebei, but also from other provinces, concentrated in Shijiazhuang classes. Some of them paid 5,000 yuan in tuition, while others paid 10,000 yuan.
On January 5, at 5:00 p.m., Zhongsheng Education was closed due to the epidemic. Students who were close to their homes were picked up by their parents, while those who were far away from home planned to leave the next day due to inconvenient transportation.
“Then they couldn’t leave.” Zhang Ying said, “They are notified too late, Shijiazhuang has a lot of training institutions, not only Zhongsheng, people notified very early, people early in the morning are the students arranged bus to the train station. Our institution is particularly dilly-dallying, only in the evening to notify.” “He was actually notified very early in the morning, he just didn’t tell us or inform us.”
The student who broke the story on Weibo also complained, “(In the morning) our class teacher swore, ‘It’s okay, everyone sit here and study hard, we’ll take it on.’ By almost evening, when it was getting dark, he came to inform us that we could go home. And then immediately sent the teacher of the class away, I want to say how we students are also a consumer, this is not playing with us!”
In the end, about 2,000 students left, leaving more than 2,700. Zhang Ying felt that the school “did nothing” because they neither arranged for a bus to take the students away nor contacted the local government to “open a special channel”.
She said, “We are all children from low-risk areas, and then when we came here we all paid for nucleic acid tests before we were allowed into the school, and we did it twice here, and all of them were negative.”

Students seeking help unattended out will be “caught by the police”
Zhang Ying revealed that after the suspension of classes, the school is almost in a state of unattended. The so-called “person in charge” is also a student, “students communicate with the leadership of what to find the person in charge, now there is no leadership and teachers, no management.”
“We call the mayor’s hotline, Shijiazhuang can not get in, and then call Xingtai, Xingtai did not give anything, and then said they overcome overcome, and so the school is unblocked, are some official words, wait for the end of the epidemic you come back.” She said, “Our agency people said, you want to go out or over the wall, the police department to arrest away.”
Zhang Ying said that now the express delivery is also not delivered, they have no channel to send something even if they want their parents to do so.
The student who broke the news on Weibo also wrote, “I’ll stay here for more than ten days, as the day said to go, clothes are also sent away, every day is looking forward to confirm the diagnosis of people can be less, but when is the end ah!”
In addition, Zhang Ying said the current cost of accommodation is 20 yuan a day, the institution said it would refund, but there has been no action. The on-campus cafeteria has only two windows left to buy food due to the epidemic, and the price has gone up from before. She said, “It went up by two or three dollars, rice is one dizzy and one vegetarian, ten dollars, before it was eight dollars. Fruit is also quite expensive, sometimes the supply is not available.”
Knowing that the school was closed, Zhang Ying and other students grabbed a lot of instant noodles from the school’s supermarket to save. They sometimes just ate the instant noodles.
“Everyone was panicking, and every student wanted to go home.” She said, “Parents try to find a way, they can’t get out, it doesn’t work, call the headquarters phone can’t be reached, there is no place to find the person in charge, just can’t find.”

I do not know when to unblock students worried about the impact of exam preparation
In about two months, these students will take the college entrance exam, but the unsealing time is uncertain, making them anxious and affecting their revision plans.
Zhang Ying said, “It’s really quite delaying for us if we keep sealing.” “The most important thing now is the time to prepare for the exam, we all want to hurry up and review because the exam is just a few dozen days away, and then it’s just kinda anxious.”
“At least let me go home to isolate I can also study at home, the material online classes are available, home online classes,” she added, “we only brought these ten days to do the homework, questions ah and so on, now are done, we brought living supplies, clothes ah and so on, but also just bring the ten days of things , because we think we have to go back in a few days.”
