Mainland surprised to find fake health code mobile app (Figure)

The mainland media has received reports from netizens that a mobile App called “health Code Demo” has recently appeared on the Internet, which not only allows users to change their identity information and display city and region at will according to their needs, but also switches the color of the QR Code on its own.

Although the App emphasizes that it is only for demonstration purposes, public opinion is concerned that it will be used by others and eventually form a loophole for epidemic prevention. It is reported that the app has been removed from Google Play.

According to the report, the app can simulate different presentation styles of health code, return to work code and pass code across the country, and can adjust the status of green code, yellow code, orange code and red code by itself, and can customize the display data, such as region, city, name, etc. The app notes that the QR code displayed is not the actual health code, emphasizing that “please do not use it for the occasion of being scanned to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings”. However, after the incident came to light, many netizens are still worried that if the app is used to provide false health codes, it will be difficult for the epidemic prevention department to track the exact trajectory of the patients, which is not conducive to epidemic prevention and control.

The mainland reporter checked the information and found that the developer of the app is named “Morrowind Xie”, and its address is a technology company on Yuewang Road in Shangcheng District, Hangzhou. However, the Shangcheng District Municipal Supervision Bureau responded that the company could not be found through the address and suspected that it was a personal act or a forged business address.
