Trump mentions Chinese Communist virus again, decides to extend immigration ban

President Trump and the first lady return to the White House on Dec. 31.

U.S. President Donald Trump (Trump) announced on December 31 an extension of the ban on immigrant visas to prevent many green card applicants and temporary foreign workers from entering the United States. Trump delivered his year-end address on the same day, emphasizing that the government has worked wonders against the “Chinese (communist) virus.

President Trump was scheduled to spend the New Year’s holiday at his Sea Lake estate in Florida, but suddenly changed his plans and returned to the White House early on Dec. 31 and announced he would welcome the New Year at the White House.

On the same day, Trump extended an immigration ban issued in April and June until March 31, 2021. Trump said the recent confirmed cases have exceeded the high point of the epidemic in June, the epidemic seriously affects the U.S. economy, the implementation of epidemic prevention and restriction measures for U.S. businesses to bring further pressure, the need to take measures to protect American workers.

The White House also said that the ban is critical to creating jobs for U.S. workers during the surge in unemployment during the outbreak.

In April 2020, President Trump issued an executive order halting the issuance of green cards aimed at protecting U.S. workers who lost their jobs during the epidemic and saving U.S. health care resources as a result of the communist virus pandemic, which shut down some U.S. businesses and hit the economy.

On June 22, 2020, Trump also announced the suspension of certain foreign worker visas to prevent skilled workers from entering the U.S. through the H-1B visa program. Other L visas, H-2B visas, and J visas are affected, with the exception of health care professionals and farm workers, among others.

President Trump is also preventing family members of persons on these visas from accompanying them into the United States.

President Trump returned to the White House early after the recent resurgence of the epidemic in the U.S. On Dec. 31, he tweeted a video of his year-end address, highlighting the administration’s efforts on vaccines, economic stimulus, and the courage, strength and determination he has shown in the face of the plague challenge.

President Trump said that to defeat the “Chinese (communist) virus,” the United States has launched the largest operation since World War II, producing massive quantities of respirators and masks, quickly suspending air routes between China and Europe, and distributing vaccines by the end of 2020.

He described it as an unprecedented and remarkable “medical miracle.
