Liu Xu, one of the makers of the “Inner Mongolia Huge injustice”, hanged himself

Liu Xu, the former police chief of The Xincheng Branch of Hohhot’s Public Security Bureau, who was prosecuted for the “Hugjiltu injustice”, reportedly hanged himself in October 2019.

Baymax news confirmed the news through several clues in Inner Mongolia’s judicial system.

According to the report, Liu was investigated by the local commission for Discipline Inspection around October 2019 and asked to “explain the situation” because of his involvement in the “Hugjiltu case”. Shortly after receiving another notice from the commission for Discipline Inspection to cooperate with the investigation, Liu “mysteriously disappeared”.

Three days later, Mr. Liu was found hanging in a forest on the eastern outskirts of Hohhot. Liu is said to have written a suicide note and left at home before hanging himself. Go out without any documents, means of communication and cash.

According to public reports, after the sensational “Hugjilt injustice”, liu Xu, then chief of the Criminal police of Xincheng District Public Security Sub-bureau, and Feng Zhiming, deputy director of the police department, had tried hugJilt, the 18-year-old reporter, for many times. Jurists said the police in the criminal investigation phase of the suspect Hugjiltu brutal torture to extract confessions.

On April 9, 1996, a woman was raped and killed in a public toilet in the family area of Hohhot No.1 wool mill. Just over a month later, the Hohhot Intermediate Court found the 18-year-old guilty of hooliganism and intentional homicide and sentenced him to death. June 10, 1996: Hoog is executed.

“One shot in the temple, one shot in the back of the head,” the life of an 18-year-old boy was lost under the gun, and Huugjilto struggled to close his right eye as he processed his funeral at the crematorium.

Until 2005, the real culprit of this case, Zhao Zhihong was caught, and voluntarily admitted that he was responsible for the “4.9” female body case in 1996. But it took another ten years of retrial before the court cleared Huugjilt for lack of evidence.

In 2016, the authorities “held accountable 27 people responsible for the hugjiltu case”, including Liu Xu, then chief of the Criminal police in the Xincheng branch of the Hohhot Public Security Bureau, who was given a “serious party warning and administrative demerit”.

Mr Liu hanged himself a year before it was made public, prompting questions: “Hanged himself last year [2019]… Why are you reporting now?” “The death sentence is not for the chief of the police to decide alone…” .

Many more suspect it is to save their leaders and their families. “After all, one person took all the responsibilities”, “he saved a chain when he died”, “the car guard”, “One of you died, millions of people are happy”, “We will take good care of your wife and children”.

“The dead can keep their children rich, and the dead can keep their secrets. Think about those who take the blame, the children are not successful later?” “Hanged yourself, did you think? ! Only to save his family!”

Others satirized the handling of the case before and after: “The injustice was committed in 1996, the real culprit was caught in 2005, and it took 14 years to be cleared up, and the person responsible was only recently held accountable. That efficiency is gone!”
