Yuichiro Haneda, former Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and a member of the Senate of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, died in a hospital in Tokyo on Dec. 27 at the age of 53 after contracting the New Coronavirus, the first member of The Japanese Diet to die of the disease, having been appointed Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism by then Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on June 4, 2012, the eldest son of the 80th Prime Minister of Japan, Tatsugu Haneda.
Hada’s health condition changed on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, when he developed a fever of 37 degrees, for which he contacted a health clinic. The health center recommended that he undergo a PCR test for the New Coronavirus, but at that time he did not think he had a high fever. Since hospitals and health centers were busy with the recent rapid spread of the New Coronavirus in Japan, he decided not to go to the health center for the PCR test at that time, and late that night, he developed a high fever of 38.6 degrees.
The fever was said to have subsided on the 25th and he applied online to receive a PCR test, but the appointment was made until the afternoon of the 27th. 26th was his wife’s birthday, and he had been at his own home in Tokyo to congratulate her on her birthday with him.
On the afternoon of the 27th, he went to a hospital in Tokyo for a PCR test, and on the way his condition deteriorated sharply and he became short of breath, saying, “I may have pneumonia,” after which he was unable to speak. The secretary stopped the car and called an ambulance. After being taken to the hospital, Hada was confirmed dead at 4:34 p.m. It is reported that Yuichiro Haneda was suffering from diabetes and High blood pressure.
