12 Hong Kong people case on December 28, Shenzhen Yantian trial

According to Hong Kong media reports, the trial of 12 Hong Kong people arrested by the Chinese Communist Party will begin on Dec. 28.

Radio Hong Kong reports that family members of 12 Hong Kong people suspected of smuggling across the border have been informed by their official lawyers that the case will be formally heard next Monday (Dec. 28) at the Yantian Court in Shenzhen.

On December 16, the Shenzhen Yantian District Procuratorate said it prosecuted Deng Kai Ran and Qiao Ying Yu for allegedly organizing others to cross the border, and Zheng Zihao, Yan Wenqian, Zhang Mingyu, Zhang Junfu, Huang Weiran, Li Zixian, Li Yuxuan, Guo Zilin and eight others for allegedly smuggling people across the border. The other two minors are to be heard in camera at a later date.

On August 23 of this year, in the waters southeast of Hong Kong, the Chinese Communist Party’s Guangdong Marine Police intercepted a speedboat carrying 12 people who opposed sending China, after which the 12 people were detained in Shenzhen Yantian Detention Center. They were planning to smuggle themselves to Taiwan and apply for political asylum.
