Pork prices in China have started to rise.
According to data monitoring by the Ministry of Commerce of the Communist Party of China (CPC), last week (Dec. 14-20), the price of edible agricultural products in China rose 2.1% compared with the previous week, including the wholesale price of pork at 43.55 yuan per kilogram, up 2.9%.
Chinese financial media “Zhong Xin Jing Wei” reported on Dec. 22 that according to data monitoring by the Ministry of Commerce of the Communist Party of China, the market price of edible agricultural products in China rose 2.1 percent last week (Dec. 14-20) compared with the previous week.
The report said the average wholesale price of 30 vegetables rose 4.3 percent to 5.15 yuan per kilogram, with the wholesale prices of winter melon, bitter melon and pepper rising 17.3 percent, 12.8 percent and 11.4 percent, respectively; the average wholesale prices of six fruits rose 2.1 percent, with the wholesale prices of watermelon, citrus and pear rising 5.1 percent, 4.1 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively.
Prices of poultry products are also rising, including eggs, white chicken wholesale prices rose 2.4% and 0.9% respectively.
In aquatic products, the wholesale prices of rhubarb, silver carp and crucian carp rose by 3.4%, 1.7% and 1% respectively.
Notably, the wholesale price of pork was 43.55 yuan per kilogram, up 2.9%, while the wholesale prices of mutton and beef rose 1.7% and 0.5% respectively.
