The U.S. Congress finally passed the fiscal stimulus package and sent it to President Donald Trump for his signature. The outside world had expected him to sign the legislation, but Trump tweeted on Tuesday night (22) that the nearly $900 billion stimulus package passed by Congress was “inappropriate” and called on lawmakers to revise the content to provide more aid, including the release of $2,000 in cash to individuals and families.
In his Twitter video, Trump reviewed a number of deficiencies in the bailout plan, including a call for a significant increase in cash checks from the current $600 to $2,000, “I’m asking Congress to modify the package to raise the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple.
Trump also called for the removal of useless spending and criticized the budget plan for including provisions for money to go overseas. He said, “The latest bill that Congress has planned and sent to my desk is so far from what I expected, it’s a shame.
Trump did not threaten in the film that he would veto the stimulus plan, but his delay in signing the legislation still came as a surprise to outsiders. As for the 1.4 trillion dollar federal budget proposal, Trump has already signed it.
Trump said that if Congress can not draw up a stimulus plan to his satisfaction, it will be left to the next administration, “maybe the next administration will be me, and we will finish this thing.
The House and Senate passed the $892 billion stimulus package and the $1.4 trillion in federal budget spending tied to the stimulus Tuesday, just before the federal government’s midnight shutdown deadline. The new stimulus includes $600 cash handouts, $300 a week in supplemental unemployment benefits, vaccine distribution funds, and $284 billion in payroll protection programs (PPP), $15 billion in aviation industry assistance and more.
