Georgia began ballot signature certification verification on Monday, Dec. 21. But President Trump criticized the state of Joe for only verifying counties where there was not a big problem.
Trump said, “They didn’t do the verification in areas that should have been verified. They’re doing it in areas where there’s not a lot of problems. Even then, they would have found a lot of problems. But they should have let us do signature verification in the areas that should have been verified. That way you’ll find hundreds of thousands of false signatures, or voters who don’t exist at all.”
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) surprised many people, including lawyers for the Trump campaign, when he tweeted on Friday (Dec. 18) to reveal that he and his daughter unexpectedly showed up at the White House Christmas party. Because the state of Joe had just previously done a third recount, declaring Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden ahead by 11,779 votes, winning by 0.2 percent. But none of those three recounts had the signature audit of absentee ballots that the Trump campaign had hoped for.
With no plans for signature audits of absentee ballots in Joe State, Kemp’s surprise appearance at the White House Christmas party has led to speculation about whether Gov. Kemp is prepared to concede.
Georgia’s first vote count was questioned for the existence of fake ballots, and the subsequently revealed Farm State stadium surveillance video showed secret vote counting without supervision; the second time, the secretary of state was not allowed to check signatures and asked to count the same votes again; the third time the votes were counted, the secretary of state still did not agree to check signatures and counted the ballots again.
On Dec. 5, Trump tweeted, “If Governor Kemp or the Secretary of State had allowed a simple signature verification, I would have won Joe State easily and quickly. But (they) haven’t been doing it, and (once they do) it will reveal massive errors. Why did these two ‘Republicans’ say no? If we win Joe State, everything else will be in place too!”
Georgia Republican Sen. William Ligon sent a letter to the Georgia General Assembly on Dec. 17 calling on the state legislature to recertify Georgia’s electoral votes.
Ligon is chairman of the Joe Senate Judiciary Committee’s Election Law Study Subcommittee, which held a hearing on the Dec. 3 general election in Joe.
In his letter, Ligon wrote, “Under the U.S. Constitution, the Legislature should carefully consider its obligations. If a majority of the Legislature agrees with the problems found in the report (the summary report of the Dec. 3 Joe General Election hearings), then the certified results of the election should be nullified. The Legislature should act to determine the appropriate electors to certify the electoral votes for the 2020 presidential election. Due to time constraints, the chairmen and legislators who concurred with this report recommended that the Assembly leaders and the governor immediately convene the full Assembly for further discussion.”
Separately, Joe Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced last Thursday (Dec. 17) that a statewide sampling of signatures on mail-in ballots from all 159 counties will be conducted. In a statement, he said, “We believe Georgia’s elections are safe, secure and valid.” He also said the audit “will not change the outcome of the November election.”
Many Internet users responded by saying, “What does it prove to be to sample envelopes from every county?” “This is another fraud! It’s not really a signature audit, the results have already been decided.
