China’s draft anti-food waste law was submitted to a meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress on Tuesday for consideration. The draft shows that the production of “appetite king eating broadcast” and other content may violate the law.
The draft points out that for radio stations, television stations, network audio and video service providers to produce, publish, disseminate the amount of food waste programs or audio and video promoting large amounts of eating, overeating, etc., the competent authorities should be warned, and ordered to correct. Refusal to correct or the circumstances are serious, may be subject to fines, suspension of business, the attribution of responsibility and other penalties.
The draft also provides that local governments at the county level or above shall annually announce to society the anti-food waste work, and governments at all levels and relevant departments shall establish anti-food waste supervision and inspection mechanisms, and encourage reporting.
Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping in August this year to resolutely stop food waste behavior, the “King of appetite eating” film was a large area off the shelves, tens of thousands of live broadcast was closed.
