A rare case of simultaneous infection of influenza and Chinese communist virus in Saitama, Japan

A patient in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, was first diagnosed with influenza infection and was then screened together for the CCP virus (Wuhan pneumonia), which was confirmed positive on the 18th. Since it is not easy to be infected with 2 different viruses at the same time, such cases are quite rare.

The Yomiuri Shimbun reports that the city of Wako in Saitama Prefecture said today that the 59-year-old speaker of the city council, Takeshi Yoshida, was confirmed to be infected.

Wako City Hall said Yoshida 17 fever symptoms, was diagnosed to get the flu; as then also together with the 2019 coronavirus screening test, 18 confirmed positive, has been arranged to stay in the hotel convalescence.

Saitama Prefectural Government Infectious Disease Countermeasures Division personnel said that because different viruses can appear to intervene, when infected with one virus, it is not easy to re-infect another virus, “as far as cases are concerned quite rare.
