The SolarWinds (Solar Wind) cyberattack continues to fester. Almost all mainstream media and some U.S. officials have highlighted two points: first, “The United States is experiencing a massive, sustained cyber attack.” Second, Russia is behind it. Biden also said he would make cybersecurity a “priority” for the new administration.
On Dec. 19, President Trump tweeted his first comment on the SolarWinds cyberattack, but to the contrary: First, “The fake news media is reporting a much worse cyberhack than is actually happening. I’ve been fully briefed and everything is under control.” Second, “The fake media always prioritizes questioning that the cyberattack came from Russia, but is afraid to discuss that it may have come from China.”
Why is Trump so tit-for-tat? And why was Trump’s tweet copied to both Director of Intelligence Ratcliffe and Secretary of State Pompeo?
This article assumes that the reason Trump is so tit-for-tat is a cautionary tale against being carried off course. This quote from Trump’s tweet already nails it: “Our ridiculous voting machines could also be attacked during the election – which I obviously won in a big way – (voting machines were hacked by foreigners for fraud) This is even more of a corrupting embarrassment to America.” This is to imply that Dominion voting machines may also have had something to do with this cyber attack. In other words, the purpose of Trump’s comment is to focus on the election fraud and not be disturbed.
The Trump tweet was simultaneously copied to intelligence director Ratcliffe, and was in support of him. Scheduled for Dec. 18, Ratcliffe submitted to Congress an assessment of how foreign forces are influencing the U.S. election in 2020, but was delayed. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence confirmed on the evening of December 16 that the report was delayed because “coordination among the departments has not yet been completed. The report summarizes intelligence gathered by the FBI and CIA, among other agencies, and Ratcliffe refused to sign it because he wanted it to “more fully reflect the national security threat posed by China”. Here’s another situation: Ratcliffe only became director of national intelligence on May 26 this year, and has no prior intelligence background, and members of the “deep government” in the intelligence agencies are not fond of him.
Trump’s tweet was also copied to Secretary of State Pompeo, reminding him that on the evening of the 18th, Pompeo said in an interview on Fox News’ Mark Levin show that the government was still decrypting the hack, but he believed Russia was behind the SolarWinds cyberattack, and that Russia was an adversary to the United States, but that the Chinese Communist Party was the primary threat to the United States. The following day, the vast majority of the media reported that Pompeo believes that Russia launched this cyber attack; and, this is considered the first public statement of a Trump administration official, the impact is not small.
Anti-Trump forces have been attacking Trump on the Russia issue, even concocting the fictitious “Russiagate” story. Now they are saying that Russia launched the SolarWinds cyberattack, is that something strange?
This article does not deny the possibility that Russia carried out the attack, but it also points out that the possibility that the anti-Trump forces in the United States colluded with the Chinese Communist Party and other foreign forces to carry out the attack exists, and may even be greater, because of the muddy water, trying to cover up the core fact that the voting machines were hacked and fraudulent.
So, Trump’s first comment on the SolarWinds cyberattack is really rich in meaning.
Trump’s current top priority is to thoroughly investigate election fraud and defend the U.S. constitutional government, but time is already very tight and the situation is getting more and more serious. Many people are calling on Trump to use his unique presidential powers to take decisive measures. However, public opinion polls show that on the question of whether there is election fraud, those who agree and those who disagree are each close to 50%, indicating that American society is divided and Trump has not yet gained overwhelming public support (Trump’s current situation is more difficult than that of President Abraham Lincoln).
In the current situation, Trump needs to produce “nuclear-grade evidence” to cross the divide among the public. With “nuclear-grade evidence”, Trump’s thunderous attack is better to get the majority of the public support.
There are at least two possible “nuclear-grade evidence”. One, Dominion’s server in Frankfurt, Germany. The second, if there is indeed the deployment of U.S. military cyber units to monitor the entire election, the U.S. military’s technical capabilities, any hackers will be revealed one by one, there is no escape. These two evidence out of any one, Biden will certainly lose.
Whether Trump already has “nuclear-grade evidence”, or when to take out, we will see.
And on December 19, the same day that President Trump first commented on the SolarWinds cyberattack, General Flynn told famed host Lou Dobbs in a Fox News interview a surprising message.
First, General Flynn said the attack on SolarWinds is very, very serious because SolarWinds is the key to America’s safe, but we can’t be distracted from the fact that “election security is also relevant to the attack on SolarWinds because the attack on SolarWinds pierces the entire information infrastructure, which includes election security.”
Second, General Flynn said President Trump received “very, very significant evidence” from other countries whose elections were attacked by foreign countries. According to his disclosure, “These countries have been watching the attacks on the U.S. election system and the election process on Nov. 3, and they were more than willing to give the evidence directly to President Trump. These foreign partners and analysts are more than willing to help us in this area of dealing with foreign forces interfering with the U.S. election.”
If this is true, it would truly be in line with the old Chinese saying, “Those who have the right path are more helpful!”
We can also see General Flynn’s remarks as echoing President Trump’s first comments on the SolarWinds cyberattack. Perhaps this is a hint that President Trump is about to show “nuclear-grade evidence”?
