U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced that Congress has finalized a $900 billion New Crown (CCP) epidemic relief package agreement on the 20th. This represents a bipartisan consensus in the U.S. Congress after many hours of delayed negotiations to help the economy fight the impact of the epidemic.
Speaking on the Senate floor, McConnell announced that a bipartisan agreement was reached on the New Guinea epidemic relief and year-round government spending bill. He did not go into more detail and has not yet released the text of the bill, but it is expected to pass within hours.
Congress plans to bundle the epidemic-related relief measures with the $1.4 trillion U.S. government spending plan for 2021. The current U.S. government expedient spending measures are set to expire at midnight on the 20th.
The $900 billion bailout package would include financing for small businesses, increased capital relief payments and funding for school and vaccine distribution. There will also be direct cash handouts for most of the American people, including $600 for many adults and $600 for children in some families.
However, the text of the bill is still being written, and the U.S. House and Senate will not vote on it until the 21st.
