Faster spreading strain of virus emerges British Prime Minister announces London alert upgrade

2019 Coronavirus disease (Chinese Communist Virus, COVID-19) appeared faster spreading new variant strains of the virus, the British phase Johnson announced today that the London outbreak alert level will be upgraded to level 4 from tomorrow, the previously announced five-day loose Christmas holiday plan will also be cancelled.

Boris Johnson held an impromptu press conference this afternoon to announce that the number of confirmed cases in southeast England has soared in the past few days due to the emergence of a new variant of the virus strain, which “may increase the infection rate by 70% compared to the old strain”; however, he also said there is no evidence that the new variant is more deadly or that it will render the vaccine ineffective.

However, in order to stop the spread of the outbreak as soon as possible, Johnson & Johnson announced that from tomorrow, London, the east and southeast of England, including Kent, Essex and Bedfordshire, will enter a new level of alert for the outbreak, which was not previously available.

The so-called Level 4 is almost equivalent to the city closure imposed in England in November. Johnson said residents of Level 4 alert areas will not be allowed to travel to other areas, and residents of other areas will not be allowed to enter Level 4 areas. People are only allowed to meet outside with people they don’t live with, and the number is limited to one person.

He said that people should work at home as much as possible, except for construction workers and others who cannot work at home. All non-essential stores, such as barber stores, nail salons, indoor gyms, and entertainment venues, must be closed. These restrictions will be in place for 2 weeks and will be re-evaluated on the 30th.

Johnson also said: “Our Christmas Day plan will not be able to continue. The governments of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland reached a consensus at the end of November and decided to take a 5-day anti-epidemic Christmas holiday to allow people to visit each other from December 23 to 27 for up to 3 families, but only if the members are fixed.

Johnson was reluctant to relent in cancelling the plan until last week, saying it was “too inhumane” not to allow family reunions, but after an emergency meeting yesterday, he announced today that the plan must be cancelled.

In Level 4 areas, people will not be allowed to meet with any people not living with them. The number of days that residents of Level 1, 2 and 3 areas can visit each other has been reduced from the original five days to Christmas Day only, and Level 4 residents will be excluded from visiting each other.

According to the latest data, the United Kingdom today added 20,7052 confirmed, 534 people died of illness. The total number of deceased is 67,075 and the total number of confirmed cases is 2 million 4219, exceeding the 2 million mark.
