Congress Schedules FBI Briefing McCarthy: Private Eye Congressman Shouldn’t Stay Committee – McCarthy: Democratic Rep. Swalwell Shouldn’t Stay on Intelligence Committee

U.S. House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the Republican member of Congress.

At the request of Republicans, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) briefed congressional leaders from both parties on Friday (Dec. 18) on California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell’s ties to a female Communist spy.

U.S. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters Friday (Dec. 18) after being briefed by the FBI that Swalwell should not remain on the House Intelligence Committee.

I can’t talk about the inside of the briefing, which raised more questions this time,” McCarthy said. But fundamentally (the briefing) answered one thing: He shouldn’t stay on the Intelligence Committee.”

McCarthy added, “The one thing I know for sure is that I have questions about whether he should stay on, and that’s a question that should be answered. He shouldn’t stay on the Intelligence Committee.”

McCarthy also said the Chinese Communist Party is an adversary that comes in “many shapes and forms.”

McCarthy tweeted again after the briefing, “I listened to the FBI briefing today and learned more about Swalwell’s ties to the reported Chinese Communist spy, and one thing is now clear: Swalwell should no longer be on the Intelligence Committee.”

McCarthy had revealed Wednesday (16) that his request for an FBI briefing on Swalwell’s ties to the female Communist spy had been unsuccessfully scheduled twice, each time with the FBI asking to cancel the briefing.

Friday was the third FBI briefing scheduled by Congress.

House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) jointly received the briefing, and the two decided which lawmakers could be appointed to the Intelligence Committee.

Pelosi had no comment after Friday’s briefing. She said when asked about the matter last week that Swalwell broke off contact with the female Communist spy after the House and Intelligence Committee leadership received a warning notice from the FBI in 2015 that a Chinese person was in contact with the congressman. She said she was not worried about Swalwell.

According to the earliest reports by U.S. media outlet Axios, female Chinese Communist spy Fang Fang (a.k.a. Christine Fang) maintained an affair with several U.S. Democratic politicians. Between 2011 and 2015, Swalwell was one of her targets for political intelligence.

Fang worked hard to get close to Swalwell when he was just a Dublin, California, city councilman, repeatedly raising money for his campaign and even placing at least one intern in his office. That was almost certainly a Chinese Communist spy as well, sources said.

The FBI then discovered Fang’s unusual behavior and activities in a counterintelligence investigation and briefed Swalwell around 2015. Swalwell says he cut off all contact with her after that.

But a screenshot of Facebook taken by the Daily Mail shows that Fang was still a “friend” of the Swalwell family on social media until Dec. 9 of this year. Swalwell’s brother, Joshua Swalwell, and his father, Eric Swalwell Sr. are both fans of Fang.

In addition to being a federal congressman, Swalwell is a member of the House Intelligence Committee and serves as the ranking Democrat on the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Oversight Subcommittee, which holds top U.S. secrets.

Axios reports that Swalwell and other California politicians have been intelligence targets of suspected Chinese Communist spies for years, and that more than a dozen Republican House members have called for Swalwell to be removed from the Intelligence Committee.

Swalwell himself declined to answer any questions about his association with the female Communist spy, and a spokesman for Swalwell’s office did not return requests for comment on the FBI briefing and McCarthy’s remarks. the FBI also did not immediately respond.

A reporter for the online media outlet the Federalist tweeted that the FBI finally briefed congressional leaders today on the details of Fang Fang’s interactions with lawmakers on behalf of Communist China. “A source on Capitol Hill revealed that Rep. Swalwell had sex with Fang Fang, a Communist spy.”
