But the local court’s verdict is confusing.
Five years, ruined a child’s life, only to be sentenced to a mere five years.
This is how the court explained: “According to the victim’s statement, witness testimony, appraisal opinions, community surveillance and other information evidence, the prosecution found the charge is established, and rape of young girls under the age of 14 should be heavily punished.
However, the defendant Guo Yuchi can confess the facts of the crime on his own initiative after his return, confessing a good attitude, the circumstances of the case should be punished and sentenced to five years in prison. “
And Xiaoyu’s parents asked for civil compensation was not supported, the court explained: “the plaintiff did not provide appropriate evidence to prove its economic loss situation, while the moral damage compensation does not belong to the scope of incidental civil litigation. “
Damn, while saying “severe punishment”, while only sentenced to five years, but also do not have to pay a penny, this is a very paradoxical sentence.
Fortunately, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Justice jointly issued the “Opinions on punishing crimes of sexual assault against minors according to law”, which provides: state employees, teachers and other minors to commit rape, indecent assault crimes, to be punished severely according to law.
Under the deterrence of this Opinion, the Daguan County Court handed down a verdict in the retrial of the case: eight years.
Well, three years more than before, which is better than nothing, I guess.
Although we all think that this demon should have the death penalty or life imprisonment, our thoughts cannot change the court’s verdict. Moreover, for various reasons, the local judiciary kept silent about the case, so it didn’t take too long for this sensational case to fade into oblivion.
It was only when Cho Doo-soon was released from prison in South Korea’s “Su-won case” that we were suddenly awakened: we have a similar demon here, how is he doing now?
