The Chinese military did not attend a high-level meeting on the US-China maritime military security Line, with the head of the US Pacific command accusing it of “another example of non-compliance”.
The U.S. and Chinese militaries were scheduled to hold a high-level meeting on maritime military security lines from Dec. 14 to 16, but the Chinese military did not comply with the agreement and did not attend the meeting.
The COMMUNIST Party of China (CPC) was supposed to attend the MEETING of the US-China Maritime Military Security Consultation Mechanism (MMCA) to enhance maritime security and reduce risks between the two militaries, but the CPC refused to attend, according to a press release issued by the US Indo-Pacific Command on Tuesday.
The exchange is part of the U.S. -china 2020 Defense Engagement Plan, according to the U.S. Military. Since 1998, the two sides have held regular MMCA talks, but this year, due to the impact of the COMMUNIST Party of China (CPC) viruses (Wuhan Pneumonia, COVID-19), they were held online.
Phil Davidson, head of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, said the Chinese communist Party’s refusal to attend the MMCA talks was “another example of non-compliance.”
Mr Davidson also reminded other countries that “this should serve as a warning to all countries in future when negotiating agreements with China [the Communist Party]”.
“We remain committed to the MMCA dialogue and call on the PLA to conduct the dialogue in a manner consistent with the MMCA Charter as the purpose of the operational security Dialogue,” Davidson said.
The Chinese Communist Party has also begun to shirk responsibility for the US criticism. Wang Wenbin, spokesman of the Chinese Communist Party’s Foreign ministry, said at a press conference on Saturday that the two militaries did not hold a meeting and that “the responsibility lies entirely with the US side”. On The same night, the Chinese Navy said that the US side did not accept China’s proposal on the agenda and arrangement of the meeting, which it described as “the US style of bullying”.
