On December 16, 2020, the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee held its first Congressional election irregularities hearing, and witnesses swore.
The first congressional hearing on fraud in the 2020 election was held December 16, with witnesses testifying and Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Ron Johnson saying the hearing will help the investigation into the election.
In his opening remarks, Johnson said allegations of voter fraud led a large percentage of Americans to view the outcome of the 2020 presidential election as illegitimate. There are three categories of more common electoral irregularities that need to be taken seriously. These include states that violate election laws or fail to enforce them; Ballot stuffing or fraudulent ballot papers; Electoral machines and software may be manipulated or the results altered.
“The most difficult allegations to assess are those involving vulnerabilities in voting machines and their software… Computer science experts must be given the opportunity to review these allegations.” He said.
Former circuit Court judge: Pennsylvania is unconstitutional for mailing ballots to be fraudulent
Former circuit Court Judge Kenneth W.Starr testified that postal ballots have become a soil for fraud in this election. Pennsylvania violated the Constitution by changing its electoral laws before the election.
“[The Constitution] is very clear that it is the prerogative of state legislatures to determine these rules and laws. I have to say that [the legislature’s power] has been flagrantly violated in Pennsylvania and even elsewhere.” He said.
Starr also noted that the Pennsylvania judge required polling observers to be present (within six feet) to effectively observe the vote count. In Philadelphia, election officials ignored instructions to abandon the integrity safeguards that ensure an election process.
Starr said dozens of Trump campaign petitions have been dismissed not because of the cases themselves, but because prosecutors are not qualified to dismiss, and he believes the Supreme Court should at least hear the lawsuits.
As for mail-in ballots, he argues that the deadline for receiving mail-in ballots passed by the Pennsylvania state legislature was completely ignored. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito accused the Pennsylvania court of running counter to state law in extending the deadline.
Starr ended his remarks by quoting Texas Governor Greg Abbott, saying, “All Americans, regardless of party or independents, must have confidence in the accuracy and transparency of our elections. It can be done. It must be done.”
Trump lawyer: 130,000 cases of election fraud in Nevada
Trump attorney Jesse Binnall told the hearing that experts identified as many as 130,000 cases of electoral fraud in Nevada and cited six charges: more than 42,000 people voting twice; At least 1,500 dead people were registered to vote; More than 19,000 people voted out of their state; Some 8,000 voted using non-existent addresses; More than 15,000 people voted using commercial addresses or addresses that had not been inhabited for more than 90 days; About 4,000 foreigners voted.
Mr Binner’s lawsuit against Nevada, challenging the election results, was dismissed by a judge on December 4th.
He says the team receives a lot of voter complaints and tracks every lead, with evidence from data scientists and brave whistleblowers.
In his testimony, he wrote that AB4 caused mailing ballots to soar from 70,000 in 2016 to 690,000 this year when state lawmakers changed the election law in August.
“It is clear that this bill is prone to electoral fraud — that there is not enough oversight of postal ballots to ensure that voter identification is verified and that a legitimate voter receives only one postal ballot. The situation is exacerbated by the failure of election officials to address known problems on voter lists.
In addition, two Clark County technicians found ballots showing up and disappearing late at night at polling stations. When the Trump team proposed accepting the voting machines, it was denied a forensics investigation.
In addition, the investigation found that some organizations illegally bribed voters to vote with lotteries, gift cards, TELEVISIONS and other items. The trump team was stymied by Clark County officials and the post office, and state officials and courts delayed processing the lawsuit for several days.
Other witnesses
Rep. Francis X.Ryan of Pennsylvania testified that his state’s mail-ballot system this year was riddled with problems, with voters treated differently in different areas and the potential for voting crimes.
He noted that in the data files received on November 4, the Pennsylvania Open Data Site reported more than 3.1 million postal votes. But the information provided on November 2nd was 2.7m, and “there are 400,000 votes of difference that have not yet been explained”.
Christopher Krebs, the director of the Department of Homeland Security CISA, who was fired by the Trump administration, also spoke in court, saying allegations of election fraud were unfounded.
Senator Holly said he would use testimony from the highly anticipated first congressional hearing on election issues to decide whether to challenge the results in a joint meeting of the House and Senate on January 6. Senator Lyndon Johnson, who called the hearing, also said the point of the hearing was to reduce doubt in the election. “It’s not just about this election, it’s about future elections,” Johnson said. The point of the hearings, he said, was to reduce doubts about the election.
At least four congressmen or elected members have pledged to oppose swing states’ electoral votes during the joint session, and four senators are open to doing so.
