On Tuesday, the Michigan legislature authorized the state Senate and House oversight committees to issue subpoenas to the suburbs of Detroit and Livonia, allowing officials to further investigate allegations of voter fraud in both elections on November 3.
The decision was unanimous in both houses of the state Legislature. A Senate Democrat also reportedly broke party lines in favor of issuing subpoenas. That will require City clerks Janice Winfrey and Susan Nash of Detroit to produce documents on how they conducted the election by 5 p.m., local time, on Jan. 12.
Representative Matt Hall, the Republican chairman of the House oversight committee, said in a statement On Tuesday that the resolution was “extremely important” to ensure the transparency, efficiency and credibility of the state election process. “It’s not a partisan position,” he said. “It’s something that all of us should work toward.”
According to the subpoenas obtained, clerks must turn over hard drives, e-mails, laptops from absentee voter counting commissions and other election-related materials.
“Whatever our political affiliation, we should agree — we have to do more to restore public confidence in our voting process,” said State Representative Triston Cole, A Republican. We can begin this process by conducting a thorough and complete investigation, getting to the bottom of these reports, and giving voters the answers they need to know. The oversight committee needs to have full and accurate information to do that.”
The request was made after the publication of the Dominion Voting Machine’s forensic audit report. The report shows that Dominion equipment in one Michigan county was “intentionally and purposefully designed” to produce numerous statistical errors.
Michigan officials challenged the report, mostly questioning the expertise of Allied Special Operations Group, which had been responsible for the forensic audits.
“If the Trump (Trump) campaign had had actual evidence or real doubts about any wrongdoing, they could have called for a manual recount of every vote cast in the state,” Democratic Secretary of State Joseyn Benson said in a statement. Instead, they have chosen to allow mysterious groups claiming expertise to throw out unfounded allegations of fraud in an attempt to mislead The American electorate and undermine the integrity of the election.”
Dominion repeatedly says its machines cannot transfer votes from one candidate to another.
“No one has shown credible evidence of voter fraud or conversion by the Dominion System because it did not happen,” John Poulos, the company’s chief executive, said at the hearing on Tuesday.
But Mr. Hall said in a statement that he had seen several reports of irregularities in the immediate aftermath of the election, “raising questions about whether Michigan’s electoral system can be trusted to be free and fair.”
“The House and Senate Oversight committees have heard testimony and allegations about the election. We also listened to officials’ responses to these claims. These additional steps will allow us to look at the evidence and confirm the truth.”
In communities where irregularities were reported, There was evidence in the records, documents and correspondence of officials overseeing the election process, Hall said.
“We need to review plans and Outlines of absentee voter turnout structures in Detroit and Livonia, archival information for eligible voters, as well as lists of polling station workers, their party and training procedures. Surveillance footage, hard drives and other storage materials (such as thumb drives) can give us more information about how these elections work and in what ways they can work more effectively, “he said. He said.
“This information can help us put together the full picture as we work to give people across the state the clear information and answers they deserve so they can have an election system they can trust.”
