China Mobile Builds World’s Largest 5G Network

One year after 5G was officially commercialized in China, China Mobile opened 350,000 5G base stations, with more than 100 million 5G package subscribers, making 5G network coverage and user scale the largest in the world.

On October 30 last year, China’s three major telecom operators announced the official commercialization of 5G. In this week’s 5G commercial anniversary forum, reporters learned that this year China Mobile built 300,000 new 5G base stations, opening a total of 350,000 5G base stations, built the world’s largest 5G network, to provide 5G services for all prefecture-level cities above the national level.

The relevant person in charge of China Mobile’s market operation department, May 17 this year, China Mobile 5G package customers exceeded 50 million, becoming the world’s largest 5G customer operator, by the end of September 5G package users exceeded 100 million.

In the past year, 5G mobile phone prices have fallen rapidly, from the beginning of the commercial seven or eight thousand yuan (RMB, the same below), to July this year has fallen to 1500 yuan or so, to the market has now appeared 5G thousand yuan machine, which will quickly promote the popularity of 5G.

The terminal models are also enriching, from about 40 models at the beginning of the year to more than 130 models in September, with more and more space for users to choose. So far the number of China Mobile 5G terminals more than 70 million.

The relevant person in charge of China Mobile Terminal Company introduced. So far the industry has launched a cumulative total of more than 20 5G terminal chips, including Huawei, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung Semiconductor, Spreadtrum, supporting the development of 5G commercial scale.

Thousands of industries are also accelerating ahead of 5G convergence, with China Mobile creating 100 group-level leading demonstration projects and 1,000 provincial-level regional specialty projects, and awarding 5G vertical industry demonstration bases in 12 provinces and 20 projects.

Many heavyweight projects have blossomed across the country, such as the first multinational 5G+AR remote assembly system built with Hunan Valin Xianggang; the first underground 5G intelligent coal mine in China, built with Huawei and other partners in Shanxi Xinyuan Coal Mine; and the first 5G full-scene intelligent port in China, launched with COSCO Shipping and Dongfeng Motor at Xiamen Ocean Terminal in Fujian.

Based on 15 industry segments, China Mobile has built 93 deliverable scenarios and has already driven 5G-related contracts worth more than 3 billion yuan.
