Is the One Plus 8T worth getting into? You should have your answer after reading this.

After the launch of the Yiga 8T, I also received a lot of private messages and inquiries from friends, they are still quite concerned about the launch of this phone, after all, Yiga is really too “lazy”, only 2 series a year. So specialized, attracted a lot of plus friends of the eyeballs. On the day of the press conference, I analyzed the highlights and slots of the 8T one by one according to the information I had, after all, it was air to air at that time, and there were a lot of imprecise places.

In general, the One Plus 8T has a high degree of completion this time, and the pricing starting from 3,399 yuan is also very sincere, which can be said to be a representative work of the flagship phone of the Android Direct Screen. And currently this phone also supports up to credit 1500 yuan trade-in service, personally I think it is quite affordable, after all, idle machine also can not pup, might as well consider upgrading a wave, which is also considered to respond to the call of the country’s economic internal cycle. And Shenzhen will also have a 10% subsidy for 5G phones, I also want to go to Shenzhen to buy a new machine.

The biggest cosmetic change is the transition from a dual-curved screen to a 2.5D glass + curved glass back panel, with a thickness of 8.4mm and a weight of 188g.

『Material』 : Metal center frame Corning Gorilla Glass
Color』:Silver Time | Aquamarine
Dimensions』:160.774.18.4 mm
Weight』:188g

From the front viewpoint, the four bezels are almost visually equal in width and the screen-to-body ratio is quite high. The front camera aperture in the top left corner is also small and not very conspicuous. The top earpiece and sensors are all hidden.

From the mid-frame, metal is used, while retaining Iga’s classic three-stage keypad (ring, vibrate, mute), with the main speaker at the bottom, which is also the area where the Nano-Sim card slot is mounted.

On the back of the phone, the 8T comes in two variants: “Green Zone” and “Silver Time”, with the Silver Time color scheme using the 6th generation AG glass process, which improves the haze of the glass surface to 72%.

This skin-friendly and delicate AG glass process gives the product both a glossy and premium look and feel.

The “1+” and “ONEPLUS” logo on the back of the fuselage is actually a bright silver color, in a special angle looks a bit blackish, overall product recognition is still good, I do not know if you like the appearance of this version, I am personally quite satisfied.

The OnePlus 8T’s screen is a 6.55-inch Samsung Display AMOLED OLED flexible screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a resolution of 2400X1080 (20:9), peak brightness of 1100nit, and HDR10+ support. DisplayMate A+ rating, SGS screen eye protection certification, this is a top-notch screen and the ultimate experience you can buy at $3,000.

『The difference between a straight screen and a curved screen』: the change from a curved screen to a straight screen is also a major change from the One Plus 8T compared to the One Plus 8. For those of you who have never used a curved screen, you will have no idea. So I’ve asked the OPPO Find X2 Pro to do an on-screen comparison with the One Plus 8T to talk about how the two experience in terms of perception and feel.

The curved screen can be interpreted as a kind of “saving the curves”, bending the edges of the screen to reduce the BM area (commonly known as the black edge), which brings a visually narrower frame, but also has a steep increase in cost.

The edge of the curved screen will have a clear demarcation line, in the slide screen (back to the operation) finger will experience a transition from the surface to the flat process, this is difficult to compare to the comfort of the straight screen. However, the extra edge will inevitably be in direct contact with the fleshy palm of my hand, which is why curved screens generally raise the threshold for triggering the edges of the screen, otherwise it’s a disastrous mis-touch experience. Upright screens don’t have this hassle because the area where your hand comes into contact with the screen is still the BM area (the black edge), so it doesn’t require as complex a design approach.

In addition to the tendency to mis-touch, one of the more difficult problems with curved screens is the reduction in brightness and reflections caused by edge refraction when viewed from a side view. So the solution to the curved screen is to reduce the utilization of the side edges, not to put the app bits and not to make the key content display, so you can actually find the icons of the Iga 8T larger and arranged as a little more compact.

In the end, you will be concerned about the feel of the straight screen and curved screen, from the frame structure, the curvature of the back panel edges of the two screens are relatively close, but the curved screen will be narrower in the middle frame, the grip feel of the curved screen is sharper, the straight screen is more rounded, there is no who is better or worse, it depends on your preference.

The advantages of high refresh rate “: this one plus 8T’s screen is also a big deal is to raise the refresh rate from 90Hz to 120Hz high refresh rate, and this year added 20 high refresh rate games (90/120 fps), before the naked eye perception of strong, less scene experience era is gone. In the comparison chart below, you can see that with the 120Hz refresh rate, the touch controls are more responsive and the transition animations are noticeably smoother.

In terms of gaming experience, I personally feel that there is a difference between 90Hz and 120Hz, but if you want to say how big the difference is, let’s do the math, it’s about 30% better. But sometimes you need to consider the situation that the current performance of the phone is overflowing, many games have performance frame rates that exceed the screen refresh rate, if you want to make the most of the performance, then you have to get on a high swipe screen. I actually tested three games – Peace Elite, Honor of Kings and QQFlyer – and tried to record the running data via Perfdog, but the software flickered on the Macbook end, so I took moving pictures and gave you a description in the language.

Peace Elite: As one of Tencent’s best-selling handheld games, Peace Elite naturally requires a lot of performance from mobile phones. The 1 plus 8T can enable super high frame rate, which I chose as the best quality.

Although it does not have a high frame rate, the feeling of playing Peace Elite is stable, and I believe that Perfdog’s record should be a straight line with very little fluctuation, stable at 60fps. 15 minutes a game of chicken consumes 5% of the battery, which is not bad.

However, I am most optimistic about King of Glory’s early adaptation, as it does not take up much of the game’s performance, and has been optimised with a number of mobile phones. I believe that the addition of a 120Hz high refresh rate screen will also boost the game’s upgrade process.

The actual performance of the King’s Glory is very stable, and it feels like the smoothness of the screen is to be significantly better than the Peaceful Elite, Tencent’s optimization is all about money, and I hope that the one plus 9 can follow up with Tencent to launch a high frame rate version, making the two pillars become fans of 120Hz. In terms of power consumption, a 23-minute round of 5v5 consumes 4 percent of the battery, which is a good performance.

QQ Flying Car: QQ Flying Car should be the first to start adapting the high frame rate mode, which is currently capped at 90fps.

The peak frame rate of 90fps, play is to be much better than the previous two 60fps game smoothness, racing games are originally the pursuit of instantaneous operation, closer to the real scene of the high frame rate, for professional athletes to make faster micro-manipulation. In terms of power consumption, a 6-minute round of individual prop races consumes 1% of the power, which is excellent.

As long as the industry has crabs, such as the first to use a high refresh rate screen, the One Plus 7 Pro, game makers will quickly follow up with a high refresh rate version, forcing hardware manufacturers to upgrade their screens to achieve a win-win situation for the industry. It’s like when “Survival of the Jedi” was launched, almost all domestic Internet cafes have implemented GTX1060 iterations, or else Internet users come in and tell you that you can’t play, and turn your head away in minutes. I believe that with the further development of the future hand games market, high refresh rate hand games will become mainstream, at this time your phone is not on the high refresh rate? That can only wait for hand travel fans to vote with their feet.

The color management of the screen: each screen of the 1 plus 8T is factory calibrated, color accuracy JNCD average 0.3, that is professional photo post-production or video editing staff can also be used as a reference, according to the 1 plus release, the standard even surpasses the Apple Pro Max series.

Although it looks like there is some color difference from the comparison sample, but this is due to the SLR screen shot, the actual one plus 8T (AMOLED wide color gamut) in the naked eye is almost indistinguishable from the original image (BenQ EX3501R 100% sRGB color gamut). From the color management point of view, I think the P3 and sRGB color gamut options of the 8T are a bit yellowish, so if you have professional color reference needs, you can consider it, and daily use is recommended to use the vivid or AMOLED wide color gamut.

Auto Brightness Adjustment: The 8T also includes an 8192-level auto brightness adjustment with dual front and rear sensors that detects the ambient light source and adjusts the brightness of the phone’s screen.

I compared it to the iPhone 11 Pro and found that the dimming strategy of the One Plus 8T is very responsive and quick to adjust. After also reducing the ambient light, the 8T starts adjusting quickly, while the iPhone is always half a beat slower. In the process of adjusting the brightness, iPhone will have a frustrating feeling of changing the brightness, while the 8T has more gradations, so the adjustment of the unit amplitude of the change is less, and the transition will be relatively comfortable.

The 8T has PWM dimming by default, but it can be turned on manually in the lab. This is a great way to get the most out of your time and money, but it’s also a great way to get the most out of your time.

The Warp Super Flash 65W (10V/6.5A) solution is used in the One Plus 8T, and the power adapter is closer in size to the common 65W PD charger, as well as a C to C power cable in the classic color scheme.

The 65w charger’s fast charging protocols: Fast charging protocols include 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 10V/6.5A, 15V/3A, 20V/2.25A, and so on.

Checking the fast-charging protocol through a USB ammeter, we can see that the 65W charger that comes standard with the One Plus 8T supports PD 3.0 48W, QC4+ and other mainstream fast-charging protocols.

In the PD protocol trick test, we can see that it supports a variety of PD fast charging schemes such as 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/2.25A, and so on.

Support for Type-C charging of the thin and light book, Switch, iPad Pro can be fed in one bite, the whole family does not worry, directly for you to save about 150 yuan of similar PD charger + C to C cable budget.

Charging History: From the charging history of the One Plus 8T, the fast charging protocol is 10V/6.5A 65W, and the actual charging maximum power fluctuates between 55W-57W.

The charging efficiency is very high, it only took me 40 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%, and I fully charged it in about 45 minutes, which is 4500mAh capacity.

I took Wuhan Metro Line 2 to pick up someone at Tianhe Airport and arrived at my destination at 9:54 a.m. with 72% battery remaining. I then went to Wuchang Polar Ocean Park in Wuhan, China, where I watched the animals, learned about the animals, answered WeChat messages, and made 4 phone calls.

After 6 hours and 25 minutes of comprehensive use, the power consumption of the Yi Jia 8T is around 79%, which I personally think is moderate, considering the 120Hz refresh rate + WiFi / 5G / 4G network mix + Bluetooth / NFC always on, the less problematic for daily use, after all, after 40 minutes and full blood! Resurrected. As for the question of whether or not there is wireless charging, I don’t think it’s a problem at all, because the One Plus 8T charges quickly and you can’t even use wireless charging scenarios, but instead you’ll still find it inefficient.

【Camera】: the previous One Plus 8’s camera module was mainly main camera + ultra wide angle + macro, this time the One Plus 8T upgraded the 2 megapixel macro lens to 5 megapixels and added a 2 megapixel black and white filter lens.

In general, the camera has everything you’d expect from a telephoto lens, but the B/W filter is used to increase the amount of light coming in and get more detail.

Front : 16-megapixel front-facing microphoto camera (IMX471, 1.0μm pixels, f/2.4)

Rear: 48-megapixel main camera (IMX586, 6P lens, OIS optical image stabilization, f/1.7) / 16-megapixel super wide-angle (f/2.2, 123°) / 5-megapixel macro / 2-megapixel B/W filter lens, dual LED flash

2x, Single, and Super Wide-Angle photos: The three are mainly functional additions, with the 2x focal length being a crop of the main camera, and the Super Wide-Angle mode being a separate lens module, which shows that the white balance of the three is balanced and stable.

In the following picture, Iron Man is fighting against the American team, and in Night Scene mode (below), the shadows are shown in full detail.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do that, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do that.

Macro Mode Comparison: Macro Mode I Plus 8T

Theoretical Performance: I’m getting the 8GB + 128GB version of the One Plus 8T.

The Androbench sequential speed of 1672.95MB/s and sequential write speed of 726.38MB/s, overall performance flagship, can only wait for the next year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 to brush up the score.

5G Testing: The 5G band of the 8T supports NSA + SA networking, both of which are true 5G, but NSA (non-standalone networking) is currently in a transitional phase, mainly for base stations that are currently being converted from 4G to 5G. In the future, the mainstream will definitely be SA (independent networking), one-to-one access to the new 5G base stations and then to the 5G core network.

I installed a China Telecom 5G card on the Yiga 8T and tested it in Wuhan. Although it is 4G most of the time outdoors, it still has 5G signal inside the campus. I also tested the downstream and upstream speeds, and I can see that the downstream speed of the 5G signal can reach 503.86MB/s, and the upstream speed is 14.04MB/s. I feel that the upload speed still needs to be improved, but this will depend on the continuous construction of 5G base stations.

The infrared thermal imaging camera records show that during the AnTuTu test, the highest temperature was 39-40 degrees Celsius, mainly in the upper part of the phone, indicating that the heat dissipation performance of the One Plus 8T is still quite good.

[System]: the One Plus 8T also comes with the HydrogenOS 11 operating system, which really shows a loving aunt’s smile as an old Canadian friend. The early One Plus Hydrogen system was overly minimalist, and after multiple iterations it finally approached maturity. First of all, a secondary screen was added to the system interface, and important information such as text messages, courier, flights, etc. will also be sorted into categories for collection and arrangement. Of course, these features are already quite common in other operating systems. HydrogenOS 11 not only has cloud service, but also breaks the barrier with OPPO, enabling the sharing of photos, contacts, SMS and memos.

The NFC function of the Plus 8T now mainly covers access cards, public transportation, payment and other scenarios, I tried the campus card, the results did not expect to successfully copy a, but only to open the downstairs access, the electronic lock of the dormitory can not, in the campus card POS can not pay.

The company’s newest product is the “The New York Times”, which is the first of its kind in the U.S. to be launched in the United States.

Hibernation Notifications: Hibernation notifications are one of my favorites this time around, as they take advantage of the non-illuminated black pixels on the OLED screen, so you don’t need to light up the whole screen.

After this in-depth experience, I don’t know if you’re still satisfied with the features and experience of the One Plus 8T, but feel free to leave a comment and communicate with me in the comment section. I’m Geek Research Monk, a graduate student with a passion for reviews.
