The U.S. Justice Department has subpoenaed Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, for information about more than 20 entities, including his business dealings in Ukraine, China and elsewhere, people familiar with the matter said Wednesday. U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News on December 13 that Attorney General Barr has the responsibility to investigate Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, and his business dealings abroad.
“Biden lied during the debate,” Trump said. “He said, ‘Nothing happened, nothing happened. Barr should take action. “Barr should have done the same.”
“Biden just said there’s an investigation going on and he doesn’t want to see any bad news from Hunter,” said Senator McCain.
Mr. Hunt said last week that the Delaware district attorney’s office was investigating his tax affairs. His father Joe Biden’s campaign later confirmed the claim.

A person familiar with the U.S. Justice Department investigation into Joe Biden’s son said the justice Department Wednesday issued a subpoena to Hunt for information about more than 20 entities, including his business dealings in Ukraine and China.

In addition to the Delaware tax investigation of Mr. Hunt, federal investigators in New York are investigating his foreign connections and possible money laundering. Separately, prosecutors in Pennsylvania are investigating a bankrupt U.S. health-care company’s ties to Mr. Biden’s brother, James Biden.
According to the New York Times, prosecutors in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, are also investigating information provided by Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, including corruption charges against Hunter and the Biden family.
According to emails obtained by Fox News On Monday, Hunter rented offices at House of Sweden in Washington, D.C., and asked Administrator Cecilia Browning to hand over the keys to his new office colleague in September 2017.
The office crew included Mr. Biden, Mr. Biden’s wife, Jill, Mr. James, and Dong GongWen Dong, the emissary of China Huaxin Energy’s chairman, Ye Jian.

On Dec. 10, the Wall Street Journal noted that Barr had been aware of the Justice Department’s investigation of Hunter in the spring, but had not made it public. The report cited a person familiar with the matter as saying Barr did not provide republican lawmakers with information about the investigation or provide further details.
In response to the news, Trump said in another Tweet on December 12: “Very disappointed!”
Later, Trump tweeted: “If Joe Biden goes to the White House, he and Hunt will be fine and Barr will not have to do anything. These new party killers will be quickly eliminated. We scared them, espionage, treason and more, ‘seeking justice through justice’ taking too long.”
A few weeks ago, Ron Johnson, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, issued a statement saying that Hunter’s lawyer and Biden’s brother, James, were not cooperating with the investigation.
