“Second-hand smoke” is only harmful “second-hand alcohol” may kill people

With the development of science, people’s understanding of the harm of bad life style is also upgrading simultaneously. As the dangers of second-hand smoke have become commonplace, third-hand smoke has begun to gain traction. Similarly, the more profound effects of alcohol have gradually been discovered. Drinking can be addictive, but second-hand alcohol is even more harmful.

Smoke is inhaled and exhaled, but how “second-hand” wine?

Second hand drinking (SHD) refers to the negative impact that one’s drinking behavior has on others.

Drunken behavior refers to the behavior that occurs due to the effects of alcohol on the brain following the consumption of alcohol or alcoholic beverages, such as verbal, physical and emotional changes, neglect or bullying, argument, accusation, physical conflict or drunken argument, domestic violence, drunk driving, sexual assault, etc.

If A drinks alcohol, his speech is unclear, dizziness, fighting and other drunken behaviors caused by alcohol are called “first hand wine”, while these behaviors cause B’s head to be opened, C to be hit by A car, D to be sexually assaulted and other influences are called “second hand wine”.

The effects of “second-hand wine” are far greater than you might think

You might say that the dangers of second-hand alcohol you cite are extreme examples of either drunken driving or drunken violence. Academics once thought so, too. But it was only in the past decade or so that people began to realise that this was not the case.

A recent study published in the journal of Alcohol and Drug Research found that one in five American adults — about 53 million people — suffers an injury at least once a year because someone else drinks, and the rate is higher in Asia.

A survey of 9,832 people in Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam and Laos found that 50-73 percent said they suffered injuries from second-hand alcohol at least once a year.

Being insulted and harassed is one of the most common injuries of second-hand alcohol. Other common forms include intimidation, damage to goods or clothing, damage to a house, car or other property, and taking a ride with a drunk driver.

“First hand wine” is the same as “second hand wine”

Since second-hand alcohol came to the attention of the academic world, although the injury figures shown in the national surveys differ, they also show some similarities. Age, sex and personal drinking habits are important factors affecting the harm of “second-hand alcohol”.

Young people under the age of 25 are more likely to be harmed by drunken behavior by others.

For women, family is the main source of “second-hand alcohol” harm, they are more likely to be “second-hand alcohol” harm by spouse/partner or family members.

Men, on the other hand, suffer more from alcohol consumption outside the home.

Second-hand alcohol may be a source of stress for urbanites

Of the 90 million Americans who suffer from second-hand alcohol, few know that it is actually responsible for their health problems. This ignorance prevents them from properly facing the resulting stress and situation.

Long-term exposure to second-hand alcohol can lead to some chronic injuries. The brain retreats in response to abusive or horrible drunken behavior. In addition, to be on the safe side, people will avoid expressing themselves to people who have drunk alcohol. Repeated exposure to this “risk-fear-avoidance” stress can lead to anxiety, depression, stomach problems, skin problems, obesity, difficulty sleeping and a series of other problems that affect the quality of life and may affect others around you.

Perhaps, as well as developing policies to deal with second-hand smoke, society needs to combat “second-hand alcohol” as a major public health issue.
