A group of skilled hackers backed by foreign governments stole information from the U.S. Treasury and Commerce Departments’ national Telecommunications and Information Services, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the matter who said the attack was so serious that the White House national security Council met on the matter.
John Ullyot, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council, said: “The US government is aware of these reports and we are taking all necessary steps to identify and remedy any possible issues related to this situation.”
Three people familiar with the matter said, the U.S. intelligence community worry, these locking the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Commerce national telecommunications and Information agency (NationalTelecommunications and Information Administration) of the hacker, used a similar tool to invasion of other government agencies.
One of the people said the hack was so serious that it prompted a meeting of the national security Council at the White House yesterday.
