China’s Communist Party dares to fight Taiwan? Two commentators see eye to eye

Taiwan’s “Green Teaser” yesterday invited Akio Yabata, director of the Taipei branch of the Japanese Sankei Shimbun, and Taiwanese political writer Jin Hengwei to talk about “Will Beijing fight Taiwan?” Both believe that Beijing is unlikely to hit Taiwan given the anti-China and pro-Taiwan attitude of the United States.

According to the report, Yaban Akio said on the 12th that Chinese Communist President Xi Jinping must take into account the United States, the international situation and Taiwan’s tenacious resistance, etc. If it really does not win, Xi’s regime may not be able to explain to the country and the party, and the Chinese Communist regime, which is riddled with holes, may also fall.

Akio Yaban also said that if the United States does not interfere with the situation in the Taiwan Strait, Beijing will definitely have a chance to win if it attacks Taiwan. In the past, the United States has adopted a vague strategy towards Beijing and Taiwan, but the United States’ recent intervention in the Taiwan Strait has become more and more obvious, making Beijing anxious, so it is flying around Taiwan and crossing the center line in an attempt to put great psychological pressure on Taiwan.

The Taiwan Strait crisis in 1996 caused real estate to plummet and rich people to run abroad, but now Taiwan’s stocks and real estate are rising every day and rich people are coming back from all over the world, which means that even Taiwan thinks that Beijing cannot possibly fight.

Yaban Akio even pointed out that now is the most obvious time for the United States to intervene in the military struggle in the Taiwan Strait, with more than 70% of American public opinion hating Beijing and supporting Taiwan. At the same time, the U.S. Congress has passed a series of Taiwan-friendly bills, and the president must follow public opinion and Congress.

Yaban Akio stressed that Taiwanese people should make it clear that there is no need to worry about cross-strait issues, but they must plan ahead, and the key point is that they must not recognize the thief as their father.

In addition, Jin Hengwei said, look at the situation in Hong Kong, look at the arrest of Li Zhiying, which is impossible to happen in a democratic country, the lesson for everyone is that Taiwan should not be taken away by the Communist Party, I believe they will treat Taiwan more cruel than Hong Kong. Although the U.S. policy towards Taiwan is vague and equally vague towards Beijing, the stability of a democratic regime is just much better than that of a totalitarian state. The United States is a country with resources and power, and that is its real strength.

Jin Hengwei also said that Beijing fights Taiwan with one flip and two stares, and if it doesn’t Xi Jinping will collapse and so will the CCP, and they have to do a risk assessment to see if they will even lose their old capital. Xi wants to take Taiwan in order to transcend Mao’s historical positioning, but the risks, losses and gains and Taiwan’s ability to defend itself are all very real, so he concludes that it is impossible for Beijing to fight Taiwan.
