Trump to appoint special prosecutor to investigate election fraud and Hunt

President Trump (Trump) has expressed a desire to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate allegations of fraud in the November U.S. election and issues related to Hunter Biden, people familiar with the matter said.

The Wall Street Journal quoted a person familiar with the matter as saying that in recent days, the president has been instructing advisers to find someone who could fill the position. White House officials, allies of the president in Congress and elsewhere have also urged the president to appoint a special counsel, another person familiar with the matter said.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has said the president intends to seek a special prosecutor to investigate election fraud and wants it to move quickly, a person familiar with the matter said.

Senior White House officials have also discussed seeking a special prosecutor to investigate Biden’s son, Hunter. The White House also expressed disappointment with Attorney General William Barr’s handling of the Hunt investigation.

The president has expressed his growing frustration with Barr privately and publicly in recent months, according to aides. President Trump said in a Nov. 29 interview with Fox Business News that neither the U.S. Department of Justice nor the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) “have seen any information about fraud or irregularities” since Election Day, and “are missing in action and can’t tell you how far they’ve gone “

Trump tweeted Saturday that if Biden is elected, Hunter and Joe (Biden) won’t have anything to do with it. Barr will do nothing …… Durham, the prosecutor Barr appointed, the same. We caught them cold, spying, treasonous and more (hard evidence), but the judicial process took too long. There needs to be a deadline.

A report in the Wall Street Journal broke the news that Barr knew about the federal investigation into Hunter Biden long before the election, but never made the story public.

On Saturday (Dec. 12), Trump retweeted a tweet from “Nationally Syndicated Radio” radio host Todd Starnes and responded.

“If the WSJ story is true, Attorney General Barr knew about the (Hunter) Biden investigation in the spring and has been silent – he should have been fired by the end of the day.” Stearns wrote in his tweet.

Trump responded that Barr was a “huge disappointment!”
