Quick News! Pennsylvania Congressman files another petition to the Supreme Court

On Friday, Jenna Ellis, senior counsel for the Trump campaign, tweeted that Pennsylvania Congressman Mike Kelly, congressional candidate Sean Parnell and others filed a petition with the Supreme Court that day asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review their claims challenging the constitutionality of Pennsylvania’s Act 77 on the merits.

Gregory Teufel, lead counsel for petitioners, issued the following statement:

“The fundamental framework of our democracy prohibits vote dilution and devaluation of core constitutional principles. Procedural gimmicks aside, the core issue in this case is that Act 77 is unconstitutional under the Pennsylvania Constitution and therefore violates the U.S. Constitution. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court shirked its most basic responsibility to determine whether Pennsylvania law violates the Pennsylvania Constitution. Its decision is in direct violation of U.S. Supreme Court precedent and nearly all Federal Circuit precedent. Because we are a nation governed by the rule of law, Petitioners today respectfully request that the United States Supreme Court review this case on its merits.

The central issue presented in this petition involves a clear national emergency federal question that, if left unresolved, will continue to affect this and every future national election. Accordingly, petitioners respectfully urge our Supreme Court to take up this case expeditiously.”
