On December 10, National Pulse exclusively reported that Youtube, which has made headlines for vowing to censor all videos alleging “election fraud or abuse,” has hired software engineers with ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
Many of Youtube’s software engineers have previously worked for official Communist Party agencies, raising the question of why there is a direct link between Youtube and the Communist Party.
Jinjiang (Dai) has been a software engineer at Youtube since May 2019, having previously worked as a project manager at Guangzhou Shian Technology.
Dai Jinjiang details his work at the Chinese company, arguing that he was “instrumental in the Ministry of Public Security, the State Secrets Bureau and the IT Evaluation Center in the successful certification of Shian terminals for the PLA.
In other words, Jin Jiang led the software effort on behalf of the PLA – which appears to be the People’s Liberation Army – and a series of Chinese government-led intelligence agencies. What’s more, he notes, he “has received numerous staff awards for outstanding performance.
The article also cites several other Youtube engineers who have previously worked at Communist Party-run universities or agencies.
These unearthed connections cast an interesting light on YouTube’s decision to ban all content disputing Communist Party candidate of choice Joe Biden’s victory. It also raises questions about YouTube’s practice of automatically removing Chinese phrases critical of the CCP, which Youtube typically explains as “an error in our enforcement system.
The revelations also add to a growing list of U.S. tech companies employing people with ties to the Chinese Communist Party, including Facebook and Twitter, which appointed Dr. Feifei Li as a consultant despite her attendance at several Communist Party-backed conferences and her work with “the artificial intelligence research institute at Tsinghua University, a leading Chinese academic institution that also works for the Chinese Communist Party. Twitter appointed Dr. Feifei Li as an advisor, despite her attendance at several Communist Party-backed conferences and collaboration with “an artificial intelligence research institute at Tsinghua University, a leading Chinese academic institution that also conducts AI research for the Chinese military.
