Cook responds to some users addicted to Apple devices: will not design products that overly attract users

As a result of the epidemic, people are becoming more dependent on their cell phones, and of course very few users are even becoming addicted to their phones. According to QuestMobile data, the monthly per capita usage hours of mobile users have increased by 12.9% in the past year, from 128.2 hours in April 2019 to 144.8 hours in April 2020.

On December 9, Apple CEO Tim Cook responded that Apple will find appropriate ways to help users who are addicted to Apple devices, and that parents are anxious about their children using devices for long periods of time, so Apple has set up the “screen time” feature.

Cook stressed that Apple will not design products that overly attract users’ attention, and will not make users dependent on the products. Apple’s goal in designing products is not to make users spend hours on the devices every day, but to make the devices simple, elegant, easy to use and fast.

Screen Time is said to be a feature on iOS 12 or later that allows users to understand and control their own or their children’s App and web usage.

Back in November 2018, Cook said that he was looking at his phone less often through the screen time management feature.

According to data published by Strategy Analytics in July of this year, there was a significant change in user App usage time in the US during the epidemic. Users’ use on APP increased by more than 6 hours per month, equivalent to 20 minutes per day.
