The U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee will hold its first hearing on the 2020 election to investigate election irregularities. This is a new development for the Trump camp in the U.S. Congress. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said the hearings in question will help delve into the election, “where a large percentage of the American public believes the 2020 election results are illegitimate because the apparent irregularities have not been fully vetted,” “For our country, this is not a situation that can last forever.”
The congressional hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday (Dec. 16).
Johnson told Fox News on Dec. 9 that “the only way to resolve suspicions is for elections to be fully transparent and to raise public awareness. That will be the goal of the hearings.
Johnson said many of the issues raised about the election will continue to be properly addressed through the court process, and that Congress’ “purpose of the hearings is to identify the major issues in the election.”
This week, the election-related case of Texas v. Four Swing States was filed in the U.S. Supreme Court, with President Trump himself and prosecutors from nearly 19 states expressing support for the case. The industry expects the related case will open a major part of the Trump camp’s litigation in the federal high court.
Johnson noted that the significance of the hearing is to reduce the doubt in the election, “It’s not just about this election. It’s about future elections.”
Since Nov. 3, the Trump team has continued to warn of numerous misconduct and fraud-type problems with this election, but the U.S. mainstream media has largely failed to report on it. In the interview, Johnson denounced the media’s practice of suppressing speech and noted that the media has caused serious election interference, worse than the interference in the election by countries like Russia.
Johnson said, “What we’re finding now is that the mainstream media has had very significant influence and interference in our elections, more serious than any interference from Russia. I mean, in fact, there are polls that have been conducted now, McLaughlin polls that show that 36 percent of Biden supporters have never heard the story of the Hunter Biden hard drivegate scandal because of the censorship and suppression. Once found, 13 percent said they would not vote for Biden. This would result in the loss of 4.6 percent of total Biden voters. Meaning Trump would win. That’s how much influence social media and liberal-leaning media played in this election. Their interference – only an order of magnitude greater than any Russian, Chinese Communist or Iranian foreign interference.”
