Former U.S. Army Special Forces Officer: Trump camp must be wary of disinformation warfare

Supporters and allies of President Donald Trump are facing a war of disinformation designed to divide and distract them, according to a former U.S. special forces officer.

The officer, who requested anonymity, told Epoch Times investigative reporter Joshua Philipp that Trump’s opponents across both parties have orchestrated the disinformation war to cover up “real fraud and malice” during the 2020 presidential election.

One of the disinformation messages, the official said, was that ballot data obtained from server facilities in a military raid in Frankfurt, Germany, was proof of fraud in the presidential election. Trump allies, including attorney Sidney Powell, have been spreading the claim in recent days, and the U.S. military has denied the claims.

“Prominent Trump supporters, prominent Republican figures are starting to spread this narrative,” the officer said, “and they’re not doing it to hurt the president. They’re doing it because they think it will help him.”

“In other words, they (Trump allies) got this information from people they thought they could trust,” the officer continued, “and these prominent Republican members, having learned of it from their trusted sources, worked to make sure that the media covered it, even after it had been after the debunking.”

The official said claims that the German raid to obtain the server misled the public, undermined efforts to “accurately track down fraud” and created a rift between Powell and Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani is leading Trump’s legal team to challenge the election results.

“The goal of the opposition has never been the presidency, the goal of the opposition is to fundamentally change the country”, the official said, “They are undermining the validity of the Constitution. That’s the danger of disinformation, which distracts from the real threat.”

The tactic of color revolution (also known as flower revolution), used during the Arab Spring uprisings to bring about regime change in the Middle East, is now being used for the same purpose in the United States, the officer said.

“Color revolutions are a tactic to influence regime change. I see that what is actually happening is a Marxist insurgency that is using color revolution to influence regime change.” The officer warned.

The officer then spoke of the eight years Obama spent “installing all his political allies in the establishment,” creating an “underground government” or “shadow government” backed by the media and thugs.

“Because President Trump couldn’t get his own people into the government, we actually had a third Obama administration,” the official said, “and that’s how we got to where we are today. The underground government is an internal element of the government. We’ve seen how they oppose the president and how they try to impeach him.”

“The media are the outside supporters, and in addition there needs to be a real guerrilla force,” he said, “and we would be wrong if we thought that was just the Antifa or BLM movement, which have professional revolutionaries in them.”
