The world’s media has been surprised by the recent news of a surge in Chinese exports in November.
According to data released by China’s General Administration of Customs (GAC) on November 7, China’s exports rose 21.1 percent in November from a year earlier and was the sixth consecutive month of growth, doubling the previous month’s increase.
It was the largest increase since February 2018, the French broadcaster reported in a surprised tone. This largely reflects the recurring epidemics in many countries and strong demand for medical supplies.
For their part, Flora Group economists noted that the Christmas and New Year’s shopping demand also spurred a surge in exports; it was also partly due to the gradual expansion of the U.S. blacklist of Chinese companies that shipped ahead of schedule.
