After 10 months of waiting and only 5 days of school, 14-year-old Jie decided to “run away” from a vocational school called Pujiang Business School with his classmates.
The school was located in an abandoned hotel. The classrooms were private hotel rooms, the schoolyard was the hotel’s parking lot, the cafeteria food was half-cooked, and strangers often came and went from the classroom area.
The children said they felt cheated, that they were looking at the promise of a full-time college or university diploma, but the truth was a different story. ……
Students who want to “escape”
“Before 1pm, the first car will arrive and load most people with bedding; at 1pm, the second car will load people.
The moment she received the “escape plan” from her son, Xiaojie, Wang Qian was confused.
Early in the morning of October 16, the first Friday after Jie officially started his vocational school life at Pujiang Business School (as the school calls itself, hereinafter referred to as “Pu School”), Wang Qian suddenly received a WeChat from her 14-year-old son, Jie, who told her that he and his classmates were planning to escape.
The children had been discussing their escape all night long. Wang Qian, who was supposed to take Jie home for the weekend, was given the important task of “pretending to be someone else”.
Wang Qian was terrified by the sudden news. At that time, Jie had just reported to “Pu School” less than 5 days ago, and he had seen and liked all the schools and majors. What on earth made this introverted child suddenly plan to “run away” with his classmates? Where do these children, who are still minors, plan to “escape” to?
In order to appease Jie, Wang Qian promised to take him home after school at noon. But she strongly disagreed with the students’ plan to run away on their own.
“What can you kids talk about?” Wang Qian said.
“You parents are the only ones who can guess what we’re thinking?” Xiao Jie came back, full of grievances. He angrily told Wang Qian that he thought the “Pu School” was very suspicious: the school had no playground, no computer room, and not many e-commerce (the major that Jie chose) courses. ……
The classroom of Pujiang Business School is located at the Green Hotel.
Qian Wang advised Jie that perhaps the school was just changing campuses and the school wasn’t ready yet?
The epidemic delayed the start of the school year, and Jie waited at home for nearly 10 months.
“In the past few years, we’ve seen a lot of people who have been waiting for a new school to open up.
The first thing that I want to do is to go home and play games.
Like Jie, Lu’s first attempt to “escape” from Pu School died in the face of his family’s opposition.
Although their distrust of the school was at an all-time high, his parents did not trust their children’s judgment, he said: “Because the parents chose the school, they were more likely to trust their own judgment and to trust their friends who introduced them to the school.
To convince his family to let him transfer, the older boy, who is over 1.7 meters tall, burst into tears over the phone: “Around Thursday morning of the second week, I was so devastated that I skipped class and called my mom from my dorm room, crying and telling her that this school wasn’t really that good. She still didn’t believe me, and said that I didn’t know what else to do but cry.”
Like Jie, Lu tried to tell his family that the classroom environment was poor, the food in the cafeteria was undercooked, there were few teachers, and that there was something wrong with the school.
But no matter what he said, his family felt more or less that he had given up on the exam, and now he wanted to leave the school because he refused to suffer.
“An uncle told me what he would do if he were still young. I told him, ‘You can come to (Pu School) and give it a try first, then tell me what you think,'” Alu said.
“It’s my own life, and no one cares more than me,” Alu said.
Not a normal school
The students’ distrust of “Pu School” is not unjustified.
According to parents and students, during the enrollment phase, “Pu School” was always presented as a secondary vocational school. In the past few years, we have seen a lot of people who are interested in this kind of business.
In the past few years, we have seen a lot of people who are interested in this program.
The school claims that after six years of training, students can earn a full-time, unified college or university diploma. The school was open for tours during the registration phase, and the school showed very good hardware conditions.
However, after five days at Pu School, the children were convinced that they had been deceived. Not only was the school not what they saw when they signed up, it didn’t even look like a school.
“No school is a runner,” says Alou. Alu said. The school has changed locations at least four times since Alou enrolled this summer.
During the summer, the school he enrolled in and visited was located at the East China University of Science and Technology in Baoshan District, and the building looked “just like a university” at the time.
However, the military training before the start of the school year was again held in the AURORA Professional College in Baoshan District.
In September of this year, the school moved to another location for the start of classes. By the time the school opened on October 12, it had finally moved to the Qingqing Hotel on Chenhua Road in Songjiang District.
Jie’s situation was even more unique.
He enrolled early, in January of this year. This is the first time I’ve ever been to a school where I’ve had the opportunity to work with a group of people who have been in the business for years.
The first time I visited the school, I had to go to the school for a few days.
In the past few years, the school has seen a number of changes in the location of the hotel, but it has not been able to appease the students who attend school in the Green Hotel.
The classroom where students attend classes is a former private room in the hotel.
The students felt that the “Pu School” in the Hotel Qingqing did not look like a school. The classrooms where the students attend classes are the former private rooms of the hotel; the chairs used in the classes are the hotel’s dining chairs; from the classroom, one has to cross two rivers to reach the dormitory, a training base in the tourist world of Qingqing.
In the past, we have seen a lot of large dogs on the road and people walking their horses at the nearby equestrian track.
In addition to the people walking horses at the nearby equestrian track, you can also see backyard large dogs.
Moreover, the school lacked basic learning hardware. The computer room required for computer-related majors was delayed due to fiber optics. There was no playground near the hotel or available for students to use. In the middle of the class, the security guard of the hotel suddenly appeared and demanded that students and teachers pay for the entrance fee.
The students also discovered that only part of the first floor of the hotel belonged to the school, and that many parts of the hotel were locked.
The students had snuck into areas they were not allowed to enter and were shocked at what they saw. The enclosed area was filled with various discarded items. The students were shocked by the sight of the piles of discarded items, including boxes of condoms, chips scattered all over the floor, and some expired firefighting equipment, which had been piling up for 5 or 6 years.
The hotel was closed to the public for the first time in the past year.
Later, some students found out on the Internet that Qingqing Tourism World had been in a semi-abandoned state for many years before Pu School moved in. In recent years, curiosity hunters have occasionally scaled the walls to “clock in” and shared photos of the abandoned resort with a thick layer of dust on the out-of-service rides.
The newest part of the project is the newest version of the “The New York Times”.
The newest part of the project is the newest version of the newest project.
The students discovered that the hotel was also rented out to companies for training purposes during class time. The students had to study late at night around the round tables in the hotel lobby while enduring the smell of food from next door.
The adults who had come for training were mingling, and there was food and wine on the tables.
The gym teacher also taught ethics and law.
As more and more questions were raised by the students, the school was getting restless.
To reassure the students, a meeting was held during the second week of the school year. At the meeting, the principal promised the students that the school’s hardware would be ready as soon as possible. The principal also asked the class of 2019 to show that the school was capable of issuing a full-time secondary school diploma.
However, even though the school promised to improve the hardware facilities, Alou was still determined to leave. If he stays here for six years, he says, he’s afraid he’ll be “useless.
“I wanted to learn a skill and open a store later. But here, I can’t learn anything.” Lu was originally enrolled in an international high school. After graduating from junior high school, the precocious Lu told his family that he didn’t plan to study abroad as originally planned, but wanted to stay in China to learn a trade and use the money he’d spent on studying abroad to open a store.
“Pu School”, at that time, was introduced to Lu by a friend of his mother’s. The family had sat down together to choose a major. In order to choose a major, the family sat together and discussed for a long time. However, when he arrived at Pu School, he found that all his previous efforts had been in vain.
“I chose a computer-related major, but the only computer-related course on the schedule was office automation. In the past few years, we have seen an increase in the number of students who have been able to take advantage of the new technology.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do this, but I’m sure I’ll be able to do it.
Lu’s classes include language, English, office automation, drawing, and acting. With such a curriculum, computer-oriented students like Lu and Jie find it hard to understand why they need to spend more than one-fifth of their weekly class time studying art and acting.
Furthermore, the school had a small number of teachers, many of whom took several courses. The physical education teacher was the class teacher and also taught ethics and law. The history teacher also teaches geography and economics. The history teacher taught geography and economics, and the drawing, calligraphy, art introduction, and other related subjects were all taught by a single teacher.
Lu found that most of these teachers could only teach what was in the books. He tried to communicate with the English teacher using the English vocabulary he had learned in his 6th grade hobby class, but was disappointed to find that the English teacher had never heard of the vocabulary at all. The English teacher accused him of having learned the strange word from a video game.
Ah Lu couldn’t take it anymore. He spent those days desperately trying to communicate with his family, listing off what he had seen to his mother.
To Lu, the process seemed like arm wrestling.
“If I won, I could quit school and move to another place. If I lose, I can only hang around here for 6 years. When I get out in six years, I’ll be a loser.”
At the end of the second week, Lu won, and he transferred to an auto repair school.
The Lure of a Diploma
Compared to Lu, Jie stayed at this school for two more weeks. This was partly because Jie’s desire to leave had been eased by the principal’s reassurance, and partly because Wang Qian really couldn’t find a more suitable school than this one.
“I didn’t know where to find a school for him,” Wang Qian said.
In Wang Qian’s opinion, Jie has never quite adapted to school life, and in his elementary school years, he showed an inability to adapt to school and keep up with his studies.
“At first we didn’t understand, and as soon as the teacher said the child couldn’t learn, we went home and forced him.” Wang Qian said that by the fourth grade of elementary school, Jie had significant psychological problems, became irritable, was reluctant to communicate with others, and even tried to hide himself under his desk during the school day.
Later, Wang Qian brought Jie to the hospital, where the doctor told Wang Qian that Jie’s self-esteem was too high, and that parents should be patient with such a child and not force him or her to do whatever the teacher said, or else the child would break down and become rebellious and anorexic.
It took a lot of time and energy for Wang Qian to pull Xiaojie, who was caught in a negative mood, back a little bit. But by this time, Xiao Jie had missed an important stage of his learning. Although he liked his junior high school teacher, he was clearly unable to keep up with the progress of his school studies.
“The scores were very low in all three courses, language, mathematics and foreign languages.” Wang Qian said she never expected Jie to go to college, but even the middle school score line delineated in the middle school exams was difficult for Jie to reach.
The company’s main goal is to provide the best possible service to its customers.
The newest addition to the school’s portfolio is the newest addition to the school’s portfolio.
The most important thing is that the school’s admissions teacher told her that Jie could earn a full-time junior college and college diploma through his studies at the school.
For Wang Qian, the prospect described in the admissions interview was almost the best path she could have found for Jie: for her child to grow up in a relaxed learning environment and earn a full-time diploma.
The attraction of the diploma was amazing, and that’s why Xiao Liang, Xiao Jie’s classmate, came to Pu School.
In the first year, Xiao Liang is still a well-known middle school “upper middle school students”, but in the second year, due to the pressure of study, Xiao Liang locked himself at home for several months, unwilling to talk to people, and his grades plummeted.
In the end of the second semester, Xiaoliang was sent by his father to the “Pu School” to enroll. The reason why my father chose this place for him, he said, is to get a college degree.
The “Pu School” is just a business
If you compare what happens at the “Pu School” with China’s regulations on secondary vocational schools, you will find that the “Pu School” has a lot of oddities that are obviously in conflict with several regulations.
For example, the school environment of the Hotel Qingqing is obviously not in line with the “Secondary Vocational School Setting Standards”. Although the school claims to be the Pujiang Business College, it is a private non-educational educational institution with no authority to issue diplomas, and secondary vocational schools should not admit students who are still in compulsory education.
The first time I saw this, I thought it would be a good idea for me to go back to my home.
The first time I saw this, I thought it was a good idea.
Tong Yun said, “PuSchool is just an enterprise that has established a school-enterprise partnership with a middle school in Jiangsu Province called Nantong Construction Vocational School. Under the guidance of the Nantong Construction Vocational School, the “Pu School” cultivates its students, and after passing the training, the students can obtain a diploma from the Nantong Construction Vocational School.
As for the students and parents’ misunderstanding of the school as a secondary vocational school, or even as a place where they can obtain a diploma after completing six years of education, Tong Yun believes that this is a misinterpretation.
“We offer a six-year training program, and after the program is completed, students can go to an adult college or choose to go abroad,” Tong Yun said. Tong Yun said.
“These students are our students, and we probably have more than 100 students registered (through ‘Pu School’) in 2020.” Mr. Xu from Nantong Construction Vocational School acknowledged Tong Yun’s statement.
He emphasized that “Pu School” is not the school’s “school site” and that it is a school-enterprise partnership with Nantong Construction Vocational Technical School.
However, Xiao Jie, Lu, and Liang all said that they had never heard of Nantong Construction Vocational and Technical School during the enrollment phase. When they arrived at the “Pu School”, they had never met the teachers of Nantong Construction Vocational and Technical School either.
So, how does a middle school in Nantong manage more than 100 students in Shanghai? Does the school know about the chaos that occurred in the Green Hotel?
The Nantong School of Architecture told reporters that students in the “Pu School” basically completed their general education and technical training in the “Pu School”. Nantong Architectural Vocational School is responsible for providing the curriculum, and regularly sends staff to Shanghai to check on teaching.
However, Mr. Xu also admits that Nantong Architectural Vocational School has not sent any teachers to the “Pu School” since the beginning of the 2020 school year. Therefore, Nantong Architectural Vocational School was not aware of the running environment of the hotel, which was criticized by students, and the fact that several majors and grades were taught at the same pace.
“We will send someone to look at the situation in the next two days, and if there are problems, we will terminate the cooperation if we can’t implement the rectification,” said Mr. Xu. Mr. Xu said.
At the same time, Mr. Xu told reporters, because it is a school-enterprise cooperation, the existence of “Pu School”, did not report to the Shanghai education authorities, and did not accept the supervision and guidance of the relevant departments.
“If the school-enterprise cooperation, it doesn’t need to be reported. It’s just that this time we added a piece of basic education, and if there’s no (basic education) piece, it’s a very simple kind of school-enterprise cooperation, and we don’t even need to regulate ourselves too much,” Mr. Xu said.
To leave or to stay?
After nearly a month of weighing the above information, Wang Qian decided to withdraw Jie from the school. She made this decision because she was worried that the chaotic management at Pu School would trigger Jie’s psychological problems again.
Due to the chaotic management of the school, the school lost many teachers one month after the start of the school year. In order to maintain order, the school also hired two so-called instructors to counsel the students.
He told Wang Qian that the instructors would kick down the door to his dorm room and treat the students badly. It didn’t take long for one student to be beaten up by the instructors.
A friend of a student’s
Although the student was fine, the presence of the instructor frightened Wang Qian, who knew her own child too well and was more worried about Xiao Jie’s return to his previous poor mental state than whether he would learn anything.
However, Xiaoliang still chose to continue to attend “Pu School”. Unlike Lu and Jie, he still had a problem with his parents, and although he came home every week, he never told his parents what happened at “Pu School”.
“If they do, it will probably be another slap in the face. Xiao Liang gave an example: once, a wrong bill was sent to his family, and his parents were adamant that the bill was because he had charged money in a game, “No matter how I explain, I can’t explain.
[…]
“I don’t want to go back to my old junior high school,” said Xiao Liang. Xiao Liang said, “It’s at least better than the old middle school here, and the students all get along well with each other.”
Xiaoliang said, “I don’t think he will stay at Pu School for 6 years. The students of the school will have a chance to learn more about the new school.
The first day of the school year is the first day of the school year.
Even as a parent, Wang Qian doesn’t know how to arrange the way out for Xiaojie and Xiaoliang right now. Unlike Lu, who has graduated from junior high school, Jie and Liang are still junior high school students, and the regular school will not accept them. However, if Xiaojie is allowed to return to junior high school, Wang Qian also finds it unlikely.
“He came out on the second day of middle school, and now it’s the third day of middle school, and he can’t understand anything when he goes back to class, and it will be a bigger blow to his self-esteem,” Wang Qian said.
The first thing you need to do is to get a good idea of what you are looking for. In fact, the recruitment of junior high school students, once was clearly written in the “Pu School” admissions brochure …… (at the request of the interviewee, Wang Qian, Xiaojie, A Lu, Xiao Liang are pseudonyms)
