Since the beginning of the year, no typhoon has directly hit Taiwan. The strange thing is that the northeast region, where typhoons have been rare in the past, is facing the threat of another “Mishak” typhoon in less than a week. Typhoon Bavi, which hit the northeast last Thursday, was the first and strongest typhoon to hit the northeast since 1949.
China’s Central Meteorological Station upgraded Typhoon Misak to super typhoon status on January 1, making it the first super typhoon of the year.
The Central Meteorological Agency expects Mishak, the typhoon will turn north-east in the northern East China Sea on the night of the 1st, gradually accelerating its speed, tending to advance south of the Korean Peninsula, is expected to land around midnight on the 2nd in the southern coast of South Korea, after which the intensity will gradually weaken.
It is expected that from 2 to 4 days, as the “U.S. Sharks” continue to move northward, the northeast region will have strong rain and windy weather. 2 night to 4 days, most of the northeast, northeastern Inner Mongolia and other places will have moderate to heavy rain, some areas of the fear of heavy rain or heavy rain; Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, northern parts of the wind will be up to 6 ~ 8, and the wind will be up to 6 ~ 8, and the wind will be up to 6 ~ 8. Local wind gusts of up to 9 to 11.
Typhoon Bavi made landfall on the coast of North Pyongan Province, Korea, near the border between China and North Korea at 8:30 on the 27th, with maximum wind strength of 12 near the center, but then gradually weakened to a tropical depression. In addition to the heavy rainfall that Typhoon Bavi brought to the northeastern part of the country, fortunately, no major disasters were reported in the end.
Central weather chief forecaster Xu Yinglong said earlier that northbound typhoons rarely hit the northeast region head-on, and the energy is almost exhausted when they reach the northeast, so the intensity of the landfall is generally a tropical storm, with individual up to strong tropical storm.
In 1949, the first typhoon to land in the northeast was Typhoon Helen, the 10th typhoon in 1964, but Helen was also reduced to a tropical depression when it landed. After Bavi, Mesak will hit the northeast again, and it is very rare to see two typhoons in one week in northeast China.
