According to CNN, several sources have reported that despite Trump’s public statements that he will insist on overturning the election results, Trump’s legal team and his remaining campaign staff are coming to the realization that their efforts to overturn or delay the election results are coming to an end.
Trump stated in a previously released 46-minute video that they would continue to file the lawsuit, however, the media noted that his legal team had held fewer meetings and strategy calls in the past few days.
Following the news that Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, had been hospitalized with a neo-coronavirus infection, staff further speculated that it was only a matter of time before their legal efforts ceased altogether. Previously, Giuliani had been traveling to “battleground states” across the country to lead the president in a hopeless legal battle to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
Sources say Giuliani is currently expected to attend a December 10 hearing with Georgia House representatives via Zoom video software, although his eventual attendance will depend on his condition.
The staff is also aware that they are rapidly approaching deadlines for confirmation of election results and final rulings on a number of legal challenges.
Tim Murphy, communications director for the Trump campaign, said, “The schedule suggests that the courts and judges will make a final decision soon, but the legal effort continues.”
A source with knowledge of the matter told CNN that some campaign staffers have had their contracts extended through the end of the year, but it appears that no decision has been made to go beyond that period.
The report notes that there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud, that many states have proven their results, and that the vast majority of Trump’s baseless legal challenges have failed, meaning he is simply trying to delay the inevitable outcome in his fight against Biden’s ascension to the White House.
And at a rally this past weekend, Trump continued to make baseless statements about election fraud, spending a lot of time making up ridiculous stories about votes and suggesting that he would succeed in reversing the results of the November election by saying, “We’re still going to win!”
